Carolyn Ann Sexton

Carolyn Ann Sexton, 75, and a resident of Chapman Lake, passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2018, under the care of Parkview Hospice at Parkview Randallia Hospital, Fort Wayne.

She was born on Feb. 17, 1943, in Van Buren, to George and Geraldine (Boyer) Snider. She attended local schools and, on Feb. 20, 1973, she was married to Clyde Sexton in Gas City. Together, Clyde and Carolyn shared 45 years before her passing. Their blended family includes several children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss her dearly.

Carolyn Sexton was a hard worker, holding positions at Whitley Products, GTI Corporation and Biomet, where she spent 17 years. She retired in 2005 and never looked back. Retirement gave her time to spend with her grandchildren, whom she whole-heartedly adored. She was a loving, caring person who enjoyed people, especially children. She also enjoyed listening to her family tell stories and share memories and enjoyed time spent outside on their front swing, watching the kids, people and the lake. She was feisty, fun and a true matriarch, to whom many turned for her honest outlook and advice.

In addition to her husband, Clyde Sexton, Sr., Chapman Lake; three daughters survive with memories to treasure: Kelly Linton-Harkins (and Mark Harkins), Warsaw; Krista (Chad) Fletcher, Warsaw; and Jana Sexton (Randal Kephart), Chapman Lake. Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Jeffrey Harkins, Tyler Harkins, Sara Linton, Jesse Linton, Zachary Sexton, Matthew Fletcher, Spencer Fletcher, Savanah Fletcher and Kensington Kephart, all of Warsaw; five great grandchildren: Aubrey, Ryker, Madelynn, Karlie and Kylie; and a sister, Louise Modlin, Marion.

Carolyn Sexton was preceded in death by her son, Billy Linton who passed on Jan. 14, 2014. She was also preceded by her brother, Edwin Snider and her parents.

The family will receive friends for visitation at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw, from 1-3 p.m. and 5-8 p.m., Monday, May 14t. A funeral which celebrates Carolyn Sexton’s life will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Funeral Home with visitation for an hour prior. Burial will follow in Warsaw’s Oakwood Cemetery.

Allen Lee McLean

Allen Lee McLean, 62, Warsaw, passed away at 8:39 p.m, Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at St. Joseph Hospital, Fort Wayne. He was born on Sept. 25, 1955, in Fulton County, Indiana to Lawrence and Chloa I. (Wolfe) McLean.

He was a member of the Warsaw New Harvest Church of the Nazarene. He was a Truck Drive for many years and then he worked for Big Lots in Warsaw delivering merchandise for other Big Lots stores.

Mr. McLean is survived by his daughter Amy (Shannon) Webb, Warsaw; three brothers: John McLean, Rochester; David McLean, Warsaw; and Michael McLean, Rochester; a sister, Lorraine Birk, Fulton County; and three nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Allen McLean was a very simple man, his famous sayings were “I don’t care” and “I’m working on it”.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Monday, May 14, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. A funeral service will follow immediately after the visitation at 1p.m. at the funeral chapel with Pastor Bill Keen officiating.

Interment will be at a later date.

Betty Louise Henry

Betty Louise Henry, 94, Warsaw, passed away at 8:55 a.m. on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Miller’s Merry Manor of Warsaw.

She was born on Aug. 15, 1923, in Deposit, N.Y. to John Melvin Galleher and Margaret Pearl (Emig) Galleher.  On Jan. 10, 1948, she was married to Kenneth Merle Henry, who passed away in May 1999.

Mrs. Henry was a resident of Kosciusko County, for the past 30 years. She graduated from high school in 1941 in Huntington. For a number of years she worked at General Electric in Fort Wayne, then later at Magnatek in Huntington until her retirement after 20 years of service. She loved the outdoors, bird watching, and drawing.  She especially loved her grandchildren who were near and dear to her. She lived a full 94 years throughout her life and will be dearly missed.

She will be lovingly remembered by her five daughters: Jan (Bill) Achenbach, Rochester; Sandie (John) Ruiz, Butler; Marije (Kyle) Myers, Huntington; Jill Henry, North Webster; Mary Ann (Tim) Collins, North Webster. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren:  Shawn Pletch, Aaron Foster, Aimee Moore, Scott Myers, Tiffany Maher, Danelle Aspinwall, Cory Piper, T.J. Collins, Jack Collins; and several step-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and two sisters.

The family will have a special gathering to celebrate Mrs. Henry’s life at a later date.  Arrangements are entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.

Memorial donations may be directed to the North Webster Community Center, 301 N Main St, North Webster, IN 46555 and would be appreciated by the family.

Peggy J. Metzger, 54, North Manchester, passed away at 6:18 a.m. Friday, May 11, at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.

She was born May 13, 1963 in Warsaw, to O.C. and Carolyn R. (Caverly) Jarrell. She graduated from Whitko High School in 1982.

She was a stay at home mom for several years and worked in production at Dexter Axle, North Manchester; and Advanced Assembly, Columbia City. She loved spending time with her family, pets and friends and enjoyed watching old shows, shopping, summertime and fountain drinks from Casey’s.

She is survived by her son: Nicholas A. (Aubrey Smith) Metzger, Columbia City; daughters: Jessica N. (Matthew) Long, South Whitley; and Sarah E. (Michael) Mettert, Auburn; brother: Tim L. Jarrell, Warsaw; sisters: Mary L. Jarrell, Kentucky; and Debbie D. Ramey, Michigan; grandchildren: Luke, Kate and Anna Long, all of South Whitley; and her loving pets: Lucy and Louie.

Family and friends may call from 6 8 p.m. Monday, May 14, at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, at McKee Mortuary. Pastor J. P. Freeman will officiate. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.

Deanna Newton, 71, passed away at 5 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2018, in her North Manchester, Indiana residence. She was born Jan. 27, 1947, in Fort Wayne to Ralph and Pauline (Fingerle) Miller.

A former Warsaw resident she resided in North Manchester for five years. She was a graduate of Silver lake High School and member of New Hope Freewill Baptist Church of Warsaw. She retired from RR Donnelly and Sons in 2012 with 17 years of service as Material Handler.

Survivors include her children: Dawn Hill Hively and Sheri Braden, both of Warsaw; Scott Sandlin, North Manchester; and Shannon Arunhalt, Oregon; a brother, William Miller, Laketon; and grandchildren: Justin Braden, Warsaw; Chelsey Sandlin, South Whitley; Jack Keener, Pierceton; and Dakota Braden, Cory Sandlin and Ryan Hively, all of Warsaw; and a great grandson Ayden Barber, South Whitley. She was preceded by her father and a brother Robert Miller.

Calling hours are scheduled from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 16, in the funeral chapel with Pastor David Cripe officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Isabelle Ayres Deafenbaugh

Isabelle Ayres Deafenbaugh passed away peacefully on Saturday April 21s at Miller’s Merry Manor. She was fondly referred to as “Champ ” by her siblings and ” Izzy ” by her many friends.

She was born on July 18, 1927, and was the daughter of Ed and Ruth Metzger Ayres. The Ayres family were long- time residents of Sidney. Isabelle Deafenbaugh graduated from Sidney High School with the class of 1944.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ray Deafenbaugh; sons: Greg Holloway, Jim Deafenbaugh and Jeff Deafenbaugh; and sisters: Ruby Montel, Edna Malloy, Mary Tridle, Louise Plummer; and nephew, Richard Sellars.

She is survived by daughters: Sara Satterfield, Nilah Wagner; sons: Bill Deafenbaugh and Michael Holloway; and wife, Bo; her brothers: Arden Ayres and Bill Ayres. She was beloved by many grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren. She was also loved and cherished by many wonderful nieces and nephews. She was blessed in her life with many long time devoted friends.

She lived over 20 years in Bradenton, Fla. She was a member of the Sarasota First Brethren Church, Bradenton Moose Lodge, Volunteer for the Red Cross, Manatee Hospital and Manatee Sheriff’s Department.

Before moving to Florida she attended Warsaw First Brethren Church and was a member of the Warsaw Moose Lodge. She volunteered for the Red Cross and the Democratic party.

She will be remembered for a quick smile, amazing energy and love of dance, especially to Boot Scotin Boogie line dance. She was always the last one off of the dance floor. She was a one of a kind woman with a great loving spirit. In her words ” she The family would like to give special thanks to Sara Satterfield for being such a great caregiver. Many thanks to all of her family for their love and support, and to the many friends that touched her life. Thanks also to the amazing, caring staff at Miller’s Merry Manor. You brought much joy to her.

In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests donations be made to the First Brethren Church of Warsaw, The Warsaw Moose Lodge or the American Red Cross.

A memorial service will be held at the First Brethren Church of Warsaw at 11 a.m. May 19. A reception and luncheon will follow for friends and family at the Warsaw Moose Lodge.

Wayne Arthur Sebo

Wayne Arthur Sebo, 82, Warsaw, passed away at 4:05 a.m., Monday, May 14, 2018, in St. Vincent’s Hospital, Indianapolis.

He was born in Cedar Valley, Minn., June 17,1935, to Gerhardt and Eileen (Laak) Sebo and has lived much of his adult life in Warsaw.

He began his working life as a teaching golf professional in Fairmont, Minn., and subsequently Sarasota, Fla. Upon moving his family to Warsaw, he began a long career with L.M. Berry, excelling in sales and later in management until 1991. He continued in Yellow Page sales for Consolidated and later New Millennium until he retired from full-time employment in 2001 enjoying winters in Bradenton, Fla. with his beloved wife of 61 years, LaVaine.

He was well known for his engaging character. Although he left golf as a career when he moved to Warsaw, he remained a passionate golfer throughout his life winning many local tournaments. A PGA member he was also a former member of Rozella Ford and Stonehenge Golf Courses.

He is survived by his wife, LaVaine Sebo; and their three children: Scott Sebo residing in Jackson, Mich.; Eric (Kathy) Sebo, residing in Zionville; and Dr. Michele Finley residing in Carmel. He was a loving grandfather known as Poppa or Pops. His grandchildren include: Sarah Sebo, Shane, Courtney and Drew Sebo and Ben, Ian, Matthew and Nathan Finley. He was the oldest of three siblings. His sister, Shirley (Don) Brickley, living in Denver, Colo.; and his brother, David (Janet) Sebo, living in Winona, Minn.

He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at St Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis on May 14, 2018. He will be remembered and missed by his family and the many other people whose lives he warmly touched.

Visitation hours are scheduled from 4-7 p.m. at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, Warsaw on Monday, May 21. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 22, with The Canon Reverend Richard Kallenberg officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw is entrusted with arrangements.

Ralph S. Nibert, 79, Warsaw, passed away at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 11, 2018, in Peabody Retirement Center, North Manchester. He was born Jan. 22, 1939, in Parkersburg, W. Va., to Charles Lewis and Rose Anna (Aippersbach) Nibert.

He was united in marriage to Rebecca Kae Scott on Nov.14, 1981 in Ashland, OH. He was employed by Ashland County Sheriff’s Department as Deputy Sheriff attaining the rank of Sergeant and retired in 1989 with 15 years of service. In addition, he was employed by Chore-Time Brock and Kosciusko Community Hospital. He was a member of the Milford First Brethren Church and the Buckeye State Sheriff’s Association.

Survivors include his wife Rebecca Nibert of Warsaw; children: Holly (Fred) Wright of Litchfield, Ohio; Karen Williams of Ashland, Ohio; Joshua (Jessica) Nibert of Warsaw; and Nathan (Stacey) Nibert of Milford. Furthermore, brothers: Robert (Lois) Nibert of North Canton, Ohio; William Ray Nibert of Youngstown, Ohio; Harry (Linda) Nibert of Atlanta, Ga.; sister, Stella (Greig) Olson of Portland Ore.; 14 grandchildren and three great grandchildren survive.

Services will be held at Milford First Brethren Church at 3 p.m., Saturday, May 19,with Pastor Lee Compson officiating. Interment services will be private. McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw is entrusted with arrangements.

Gregory William Sasso

Gregory William Sasso went to be with the Lord at 6:13 a.m. on May 15, 2018, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.

Sasso was born on Oct. 8, 1961, in Elmhurst, Ill. to Lyn (Luske) and Richard Sasso. He graduated from Warsaw High School and received his Bachelor’s degree at Purdue University. He was part of the Biomet team for 26 years.

Greg married Vicki White in 1990 and were blessed with four children:  Matthew Sasso, Erica (Sasso) Wight (married to Chris Wight), Jacqueline Sasso and Lauren Sasso who will lovingly remember their Dad.

He will be lovingly remembered by his brother, Dr. Rick Sasso, sister-in-law, April Sasso, nieces Maria, Willa and Pilar Sasso; sister, Sara Rubin, brother-in-law Scott Rubin, nieces Layla and Libby Lehr, nephew Landon Lehr; sister Karley Sasso, brother-in-law Tommy Walz, nephew Johnny Walz; brother Eric Sasso.

Greg Sasso deeply loved his family as well as his friends. He will be missed by all his family and friends.

There will be a private memorial service conducted.

Peggy Sue Worsham, 79, Warsaw, passed away at 2:12 p.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2018, in Milford. She was born March 27, 1939, in Wayland, Ky. to Taylor Ray and Dorothy Virginia (Miles) Horne.

She grew up in Kentucky and moved to the Warsaw area from Kenton, Ohio in 1965. She was married on June 30, 1967, in Warsaw to E. Eugene Worsham in who preceded her on July 14, 2001, and was a cook at numerous local nursing homes and restaurants in Kosciusko County.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Danny) England, Warsaw; three sisters: Cora Horne, Warsaw; Vickie Fulford, Martinsville; Sandra Lou (Ruben) Hicks, Kendallville; brother, Jimmy Daryl Horne, Warsaw; one niece and three nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Tom I. Horne, John D. Horne; five sisters: Patricia A. Copeland, Virginia C. Fritz, Sharon K. Horne, Margie Horne, infant sister: Barbara Horne; and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Fulford.

 

No funeral services are planned at this time. Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. SR 15, Warsaw, IN 46582 is in charge of arrangements.

Joe Ousley Sr., 70, Warsaw, passed away at 6:39 p.m., Wednesday, May 16, 2018, in his residence. He was born on Oct. 15, 1947, to Taylor and Renis Ousley in Prestonsburg Ky.

He worked and retired from Sun Metal.

He is survived by his wife Lynn Ousley of Warsaw; sons: Joe (spouse Patty) Ousley Jr. and Jeff Ousley of Warsaw; sister, Melinda Ousley Hager (Terry), Prestonburg, Ky.; grandchildren, Kendra Manns, Paducah, Ky.; Courtney Craft, Mentone; Trina Mills, Akron; Heather Stutzman, Etna Green; Rachael Stutzman, Warsaw, and Alison Ousley, Warsaw, also 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Don Ousley.

A visitation will be held from 10 a.m.-noon, Friday May 18, at the Warsaw Family Worship Center. A funeral service will follow immediately after the visitation at noon at the church with Pastor William Whitaker officiating. Interment will be in Palestine Cemetery, Palestine, Indiana.

Michael R. Stroh

Michael R. Stroh, 51, Warsaw passed away at 7:35 a.m., May 11, 2018, in Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.

On Oct. 11, 1966, he was born in Chicago, Illinois to Richard M. Stroh and Gayle (Galla) Stroh.

He graduated from Warsaw Community High School in 1985 and served in the United States Air Force at the rank of E1 and was stationed in San Antonio, Texas. He attended First Christian Church of Warsaw.

He is survived by his mother; Gayle (Clarence) Dickey, his father; Richard M. (Sheryl) Stroh, child; Jensine (and companion CJ Tampir) Stroh and a sister; Wendy (Don) King.

A visitation will be held from 10 a.m.-noon, Saturday, May 26,  McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel in Warsaw. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 26,at noon with Pastor Jeremy Welch officiating. Interment services will be private.

Patricia J. ‘Pat’ Sattison

Patricia J. “Pat” Sattison, 81, Warsaw, passed away at 12:41 p.m., Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne.

She was born May 15, 1937 in Ferndale, Mich. to Carl David and Velva Irene (Burgess) Willard.

She graduated in 1956 from Lincoln High School in Ferndale, Mich. and was married on April 12, 1981, in Warsaw to Carleton B. “Carl” Sattison, who preceded her Jan. 1, 2012. She grew up in Michigan, moved to North Webster area in 1962 from Michigan, and lived in Archbold, Ohio for ten years before returning to North Webster and Warsaw.

She retired in December 2006 from Wawasee Community School Corporation as the Cafeteria Manager for North Webster Elementary School. She formerly worked at Kresge Five & Dime Store in Ferndale, G & W Pizza in Syracuse, Distributors Services as terminal manager, and as a licensed practical nurse at Murphy Medical and a local nursing home.

She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Oswego. She loved texting and spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, sisters, and church friends. She enjoyed crocheting, watching her beloved Tigers baseball, and her Euchre Club. She was a very talented artist who painted, did ceramics, and could create masterpieces with a set of colored pencils.

She is survived by her daughter, Sherrie (Robert) Momeyer, Warsaw; two sons: Ronald (Marcia) Cody, Archbold, Ohio; Thomas (Brenda) Cody, Mentone; step-daughter: Cathi (Dan) Kerr, North Manchester; two step-sons: Dennis (Dianne) Sattison, Fayette, Ohio; Carl “Mick” (Grace) Sattison, Wauseon, Ohio; ten grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sister, Pamela Irene Templeton, Middlebury; sister-in-law, Billie Willard, Warsaw.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, John Willard, and brother-in-law, William Templeton.

 

Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Friday, May 25, at Calvary Baptist Church, 3065 E. Armstrong Rd, Leesburg. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. on Friday in the church with Pastor Greg Hardin officiating. Burial will be in the North Webster Cemetery. Owen Family Funeral Home, SR 13 and CR 500N, North Webster is in charge of arrangements.

Clara Belle Hartman, 91, Warsaw, died 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at Warsaw Meadows Care Center.

She was born in New Paris on Nov. 16, 1926, to Andrew & Stella (Brady) Welty. She married Robert E. Hartman on Feb. 27, 1960, in Goshen and he died June 1, 2017.

Surviving are sons: Dan (Cindy) Hartman, Montana; Brian (Miriam) Hartman, Wakarusa; Keith Hartman, Nappanee; grandchildren: Kelly Hartman, Montana; Cassie (Kevin) Ball, Ohio; and a sister, Ethel Elliott, New Paris.

Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, Robert, sisters, Jane and Mae and brothers, Andrew, Jake and “Buddy” Willard.

Clara Belle was a homemaker and enjoyed reading. She was a member of the Nappanee Church of the Brethren.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 25, at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen, and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. service on Saturday, May 26, at the Nappanee Church of the Brethren, 301 Mack Dr., Nappanee. Pastor Bryl Shaver will officiate. Burial will follow at New Paris Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be directed to the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Services of Northern Indiana.
