Terry J. Klosowski

Terry J. Klosowski, 72, Warsaw, passed away at 11:10 a.m., May 21, 2018, in his residence.

He was born Aug. 31, 1945, in Michigan City, to Leon and Leona (Mulvinski) Klosowski. On Sept. 12, 1964, in Michigan City he was united in marriage to Mary K. Breitzka, who survives.

He attended Elston High School in Michigan City. He was the former Director of KABS from 1988 to 1993 and most recently worked in customer service at Lowes from 2000 to 2010 before retiring. He was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Warsaw.

He is survived by his wife, Mary and children: Thomas Klosowski, LaPorte; Matthew (Michelle) Klosowski, Warsaw; and Mark (Stacy) Klosowski, Warsaw. He is further survived by his brother, Leon “Butch” Klosowski, Leesburg, Fla.; and a sister, Susie Swain, New Buffalo, Mich.; along with his grandchildren: Brandon, Conner, Tanner, Levi Klosowski, Warsaw; Lauren and Alicia Klosowski, LaPorte; Christie Dotson, Kerra McCartney. He is also survived by his great grandchildren: Parker and Maylee Klosowski, Kam Dotson, Nolan Driscoll, Carter Dotson and Aidan Hensell.

He was preceded by his parents and a sister; Nancy Flannagan.

A visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, May 24, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel in Warsaw. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 25, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel in Warsaw with Reverend Mike Mueller officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw.

Beckie A. Runnells

Beckie A. Runnells, 76, Warsaw, passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at Goshen Hospital in Goshen. She was born April 18, 1942, to Warren and Dorothy Robinson in Rochester.

She was a graduate of Tippecanoe High School and a member of the Warsaw community since 1969.  She retired after 35 years with Zimmer as an Administrative Assistant in Warsaw.

Beckie is survived by two daughters, Lisa Sands and Kathy (Chris) Rhoades, both of Warsaw; one brother, John Robinson, Lakeville; three granddaughters: Brittany Blackburn, Chelsy (Jeff) Parker, and Morgan Sands; two grandsons, Nick Sands and Trenton Sands; five great grandchildren, Colette Blackburn, Colter Blackburn, Brixen Blackburn, Sawyer Parker, Avanelle Parker and three nephews and two nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Warren W. Robinson.

A private memorial service in honor of Beckie will be held at Milford Cemetery on June 9. Burial will follow at Milford Cemetery.

Audra Irene Rhoades, 95, Grace Village Retirement Community in Winona Lake, and formerly a long time resident of Pierceton, passed away at 10:47 p.m., Tuesday, May 22, 2018, in Grace Village Health Care.

She was a virtuous, quiet woman of great faith. She stepped on shore and found it Heaven, took a hand and found God’s. She breathed her first breath of new air and found it celestial. And waking up in Glory and she found it Home.

She was born Jan. 24, 1923, in Clay Township, Kosciusko County, to Arlie F. Beigh and Laurena (Karns) Beigh. On Nov. 26, 1942, in Walkerton, she was married to Ernest F. Rhoades, who passed away on Aug. 15, 2000.

She was lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, residing the majority of her life in Pierceton. And she was a 1941 graduate of Claypool High School. She was very involved with the Warsaw and Winona Lake Gideon Auxiliary since the 1960’s, and was a volunteer coordinator for the Kosciusko County Historical Society for many years as well as being involved with child evangelism.

She was an excellent cook, enjoyed gardening, and was a member of the Atwood Christian Fellowship.She was a praying mother and grandmother and will be forever missed.

She will be lovingly remembered by her four sons:  Ron (Judy) Rhoades, Holland, Mich.; John (Aggie) Rhoades, Fort Meyers, Fla.; Frank (Christy) Rhoades, Pierceton; and Dean (Chris) Rhoades, Pierceton. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren: Todd (Tracie) Rhoades, Holland, Mich.; Courtney Rhoades, Texas; Jennifer Rhoades, Chicago, Ill.; Anna (Jason) Umstead, North Carolina; Morgan Rhoades, Fort Meyers, Fla.; Rebecca (John) Repp, Tennessee; Jason (Jodi) Rhoades, Pierceton; Nathan Rhoades, Sidney; and Janelle (Keirn) Rhoades, Pierceton; Aaron Rhoades, Indiana; Carrie (Nathan) Sautter, North Manchester; Stephanie (Brandon) Cloud, Pierceton; Ethan (Rachael) Rhoades, Pierceton; and fifteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest R. Rhoades in 2000, two sisters, four brothers, and her great-grandson, Brevin Sautter.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, May 26, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw. Her funeral service will follow immediately at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 26, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by Pastor Jerry Kissinger.  Burial will follow with a graveside service at Graceland Cemetery in Claypool, Indiana.

Gary Stutzman, 65, Warsaw, passed away at 3:05 p.m.Thursday May 17, 2018 at 3:05 p.m. in his residence. He was born on August 10, 1952 to Jonas and Gladys (MacLain) Stutzman in Plymouth, Indiana, and has been a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County.

Mr. Stutzman was united in marriage to Sherri Rae Kehoe on May 22, 1980, in Warsaw. She preceded Mr. Stutzman on June 27, 2009.

He retired from RR Donnelly’s in 2009 as a printing press operator. He spent his free time watching sports, particularly the Chicago Cubs, and generally with a cold beer. He also enjoyed testing his wits with mental games, such as Jeopardy or crossword puzzles. He had a very deep love for his family, grandchildren, and his quiet life on the river.

Gary Stutzman is survived by his children: Sara (Randy) Wilde of Richwood, Ohio; Nick (Shawna) Stutzman of Fort Wayne; and Ross (Virginia) Stutzman of Las Vegas, Nev.; Sisters Debbie (Tom) Rubesha of Argos; Toni Oyler of San Marcos, Texas; and Raelen Stutzman also from San Marcos, Texas; grandchildren: Aaron, Allen, Aidan, Ashley and Addison; a sister-in-Law, Shelia (Rick) Ellis of Leesburg; Kerry (Karen) Kehoe and Dane Lane both of Warsaw; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Sherri.

A celebration of Gary’s life will be held from 2-5 p.m., Friday June 1,in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.

Robert D. Lozier, known to many as “Bob,” was called home on Friday, May 25, from his Warsaw residence. He passed away at 10:30 a.m. at the age of 90.

He was the son of Harry and Bertha (Snell) Lozier. He graduated from Leesburg High School with the class of 1946 and spent his lifetime in the Leesburg and Warsaw area.

On Dec. 10, 1950, Lozier was united in marriage to G. Jean Helser. Jean and Bob spent more than 35 years together before her passing on Dec. 13, 1987. To their union, three children were born and many happy memories were made. Lozier was blessed to find love twice and was married to Jane Kistler on Nov. 8, 2003. The pair shared 14 years together before his Friday morning passing.

Lozier was a dairy and grain farmer, an honest and hardworking man and a lover of the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed time fishing in Birchwood, Wisconsin, on Chapman Lake and in Florida where he and his wife traveled each year. He always enjoyed traveling and, even during the dairy’s busiest years, was sure to make time to take his family camping. He enjoyed the quiet times too – tending to his vegetable garden, mowing the yard and reading the novels of Louis L’Amor.

Lozier wasn’t just a family man, he was active in his community and held a strong faith in Christ. He was a proud member of Warsaw Elks and Warsaw Moose Lodge. He was the past Director and President of Kosciusko County Farm Bureau and Director of Associated Milk Producers, Inc., where he also served on numerous corporate and regional boards. Bob was the President of Milk Promotion Services of Indiana and a longtime member of North Winona Church of the Brethren.

Those who survive include his wife, Jane Lozier; two sons, Doug (Kathy) Lozier of Carmel, and Chris (Deb) Lozier of Warsaw; daughter, Sue (Bob) Ludy of Greenwood; five grandchildren: Steffannie (Jim) Fuydal of Lebanon, Laura (Justin) Curtis of Leesburg, Cindy (Brent) Fifer of Warsaw, Tom (Ashley) Lozier of Leesburg and Samantha Ludy of Lawrence; eight great-grandchildren; brothers: Don (Miné) Lozier of Warsaw, John Lozier of Birchwood, WI, and Joe Lozier of Pierceton; sister, Helen William of Kalamazoo, MI; brother-in-law, Carl Hudson of San Jose, CA and sister-in-law, Christine Haney of Warsaw.

Also surviving are step-son, Troy (Christine) Kistler, step-daughter, Janelle (Larry) Jennings and step-grandsons, Jordan Jennings, Braxton Jennings, Mason Jennings, Dean Jennings, Dillion Jennings, Austin Long, Taran Kistler, Raiden Kistler and Brantzen Kistler – all of North Webster.

The family will receive friends for a time of gathering and for viewing from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw. A traditional funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Funeral Home. Pastor Michael Smith of North Winona Church of the Brethren will officiate with burial in Warsaw’s Oakwood Cemetery.

William ‘Bill’ E. Beuoy

William “Bill” E. Beuoy of Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 25, 2018 at Grace Village Health Care at the age of 89.

William “Bill” E. Beuoy

He was born on April 20, 1929 in Eaton to Frank Beuoy and Florence (Hartzell) Beuoy. He was married to Ann Crooks, and then later Beuoy re-married on April 14, 1962 to Gloria Joy Gibson, who survives.

Beuoy received his B.S. Degree from Ball State University in 1951. He served four years in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1955 during the Korean War and was able to attend the Navy Electronics School. In 1959, he was awarded a National Science Foundation grant to study at Ohio State University and he received his Master’s Degree. Later he did post-graduate studies at Ball State University and attended a National Science Foundation Summer Institute at Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. 

He taught math and science at Harford City from 1955-1958; and physics, chemistry, earth science and astronomy at Muncie Central from 1959-1989, spending four of those years as Planetarium Director. In 1990-1991 he taught at Red Bird Mission in southeastern Kentucky.

He and his wife, Joy, spent ten winters with NOMADS doing disaster relief in the southern U.S. and later led several Mission work camps from the North Webster United Methodist Church. Beuoy never tired of teaching and taught astronomy to several Boy Scout groups. He was a life member and past board member of the National Science Teachers Association, past board member of the Indiana Science Supervisors Association, regional council member of the National Association of Geology Teachers, member of the Great Lakes Planetarium Association, past member of Sigma Zeta and Phi Delta Kappa Fraternities; and a longtime member of the Warsaw Kiwanis Club. He received an award from the American Association of Physics Teachers in 1989 as Indiana’s Outstanding Physics Teacher. 

As a young boy in Eaton, Beuoy gave his life to the Lord. He was a former member of the Madison Street United Methodist Church in Muncie, former member of the North Webster United Methodist Church and was a member of Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed traveling and helping in disaster areas, fishing, camping, wood working and lapidary. Beuoy very much enjoyed his family and teaching each grandchild how to fish and water ski. He lived a full life and will be missed dearly by his family, friends and the countless students he had the privilege of teaching. 

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Joy Beuoy, Warsaw; two sons:  James Beuoy, Akron, Ohio; Jay (wife Debra) Beuoy, Great Bend, Kansas; and four daughters:  Karen (husband Bruce) Libey, Bellbrook, Ohio; Peggy (husband David) Liles, Raleigh, North Carolina; Rebecca (husband Lyle) Ortner, Bettendorf, Iowa; and Melissa (husband Mark) Warner, Warsaw.  Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his sister: Mary F. Roberts, Middletown. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his two brothers, Earl and James Beuoy.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 1, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.

His funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, at Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 210 High St. Warsaw. Private family graveside service will take place at Mount Tabor Cemetery in Muncie with military rites conducted by active duty members of the Navy Honor Guard.

Jimmie Bryon Thomas

Jimmie Bryon Thomas, of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at 8:55 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at his residence at the age of 82.

He was born on April 28, 1936 in Kennett, Missouri to Herbert Thomas and Golda May (Alsup) Thomas.  On Jan. 5, 1965, he was married to Loretta L. (Hunt) Thomas, who passed away on Sept. 25, 2017. 

Thomas attended Beaver Dam School, and in 1955 he joined the U.S. Army. He proudly served for two years in Germany. He was a truck driver out of California for many years, and then drove a tour bus. In later years he volunteered as a security guard for Kemrad in Warsaw. Thomas was a kind and trusting soul who enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, fishing and was an avid bird watcher. He will be dearly missed by those who loved him.

He will be lovingly remembered by his two sisters Hettie De Rossett, Warsaw; Sue Priest, Indianapolis; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one step-grandson.            

A memorial service will be conducted at a later date and officiated by Pastor Dennis L. Bollenbacher. A private burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.

Dorothy Rankin, 86, Warsaw, passed away peacefully at 12:05 a.m. May 19, 2018, in Warsaw Meadows. She was born July 8, 1931. in Olean N.Y. to Robert and Beatrice ( Neault) Sutch. The family later made their home in Muskegon Mich.

Mrs. Rankin attended school in North Muskegon where she met the love of her life, Graham. They recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. The couple raised five children: Robert, Richard, Leslie, Chris and Bill.

The family frequently enjoyed camping vacations at Lake Michigan and the couple Instilled in their children the love of outdoors and a sense of adventure.

After moving to Indiana, she worked at Zimmer International Corp. from 1975 as an administrative assistant until her retirement.

She is survived by her husband, Graham, along with her children Robert (Mely) Rankin, Clarkston Mich., Richard (Barbara) Rankin, Portland Ore., Leslie (Steven) Hepler, Warsaw, Chris (Julie) Rankin, Warsaw and William Rankin, Phoenix, Ariz.; brother, Robert Sutch, Jackson, Mich. and brother-in-law Robert Rankin, Spring Lake. In addition, there are nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren who survive.

Calling hours are scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, Warsaw on Thursday, May 31. A funeral mass will immediate follow at 3 p.m. in the church. The Rev. Canon Richard Kallenberg will celebrate the mass. Arrangements have been entrusted to McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.

Alta M. Hall, 73, of Warsaw, passed away at 2:11 p.m. Friday, May 25, 2018, at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.

She was born on July 2, 1944, in Paintsville, Ky. to Edward and Nola (Blanton) Jackson. She was united in marriage to Bobby Hall on March 14, 1962. in Silver Lake. He preceded her in death on May 27, 2004. She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Faith Ministries, Pierceton.

Alta is survived by four daughters: Annette (Mikey) Nicholson, Marsha (Matthew) Brubaker, Peggy (Michael) Moss and Roberta (Timothy) Craig; four brothers: Bobby Ray Jackson, Donnie (Denise) Jackson, Lee Jackson and Conroy Jackson; five sisters: Lois (Redwine) Sammons, Ruth Hamman, Linda (Curt) Ousley, Glenna Jackson and Bonnie Jackson; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded by death by daughter Tammy Hall, sister Etta Fay Ramsey and brother Duane Jackson.

Visitation hours will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 29. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 30 at Warsaw Family Worship Center, Warsaw with Pastor William Whitaker officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Claypool.

Delta Marie Shipley

Delta Marie Shipley, 90, Warsaw, passed away at 8:30 p.m., Thursday May 17, 2018, at Lake City Place in Warsaw. She was born on July 2, 1927 in Silver Lake to George Peter and Elta Cleo (Parker) Baker.

She graduated in 1945 from Claypool High School and on July 5, 1946 in Silver Lake, she married Robert L. “Bob” Shipley, who preceded her on Jan. 23, 2004. She moved to the Warsaw and North Webster area in August 1958 from Claypool. She was a homemaker and retired from Sears in Warsaw after 32 years. In her retirement she enjoyed gardening and crafts. She sold her crafts, flowers, and vegetables at the Warsaw Fairground Farmers Market for many years. She was known as “Crafty Bake” and sold thousands of crocheted “scrubbers.”

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in North Webster, where she formerly served as a nursery and Sunday school teacher for many years, and attended the Church of God in North Webster.

She is survived by her four daughters: Claudia (Ron Longyear) Brown, Leesburg; Ginger (Max) Beer, Milford; Kimera Zink, North Webster; and Melisa (Jay) Van Sickle, Leesburg; a son, Ronald (Cathy) Shipley, Leesburg; 12 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; sister, Gloria Shipley, Leesburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Phyllis Sittler, and brother, Donald Baker.

Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, at Owen Family Funeral Home, SR 13 and CR 500N, North Webster. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will take place in the Mock Addition of the North Webster Cemetery.

Also surviving are step-son, Troy (Christine) Kistler, step-daughter, Janelle (Larry) Jennings and step-grandsons, Jordan Jennings, Braxton Jennings, Mason Jennings, Dean Jennings, Dillion Jennings, Austin Long, Taran Kistler, Raiden Kistler and Brantzen Kistler – all of North Webster.

In addition to his first wife, Jean, Bob Lozier was preceded in passing by his two brothers, Carl and Dean Lozier, and sister, Retha Hudson.

The family will receive friends for a time of gathering and for viewing from 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, May 29 at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw. A traditional funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Funeral Home. Pastor Michael Smith of North Winona Church of the Brethren will officiate with burial in Warsaw’s Oakwood Cemetery.

Pauline Metzger — UPDATED

Pauline Metzger, 85, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017, in Florida.

Formerly a resident of Warsaw, she was born Aug. 29, 1932, in Van Lear, Ky. She was the daughter of Ed and Myrtie Brown. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Metzger was preceded in death by her husband, Harold C. Metzger; her parents; and seven older siblings. Survivors include her son, Randy J. Metzger and wife Nancy of Tampa, Fla.; brother, Bob Brown and wife Noretta of Warsaw; grandchildren, Morgan and Garrett Metzger of Tampa, Fla.; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Graceland Cemetery in Claypool at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 2.

Norman L. ‘Norm’ Hagg

Longtime newspaper reporter and editor Norman L. “Norm” Hagg, Warsaw, passed away at the age of 80, Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at approximately 6:35 p.m. at Kosciusko Community Hospital of Warsaw, following a 16-year battle with cancer and leukemia.

A lifelong resident of Kosciusko County, he was born Oct. 15, 1937 to Arnold D. and Gladys E. (Ring) Hagg. He graduated from Leesburg High School in 1955 and went on to complete training for a career in radio at Midwestern Broadcasting School in Chicago. He enjoyed playing basketball in high school where he was named the Leesburg Lions Club Most Valuable Player on the Blue Blazers team as a junior in 1954 and was invited by the coach to attend the legendary Indiana high school basketball finals at Butler Fieldhouse between Milan and Muncie Central that became the basis for the movie, “Hoosiers.”

Hagg and the former Patricia A. Tusing, were united in marriage on Aug. 3, 1958. The couple were active lifetime members of the Dutchtown Brethren Church, where they served on the Deacon Board for more than 30 years. The church was the foundation of their Christian faith which was so important in their marriage and in the lives of their children and families.

In addition to his wife Patricia, Warsaw, he is survived by three children: Beth (Neil) Walker, Westland, Mich.; Mike (Rhonda) Hagg, Silver Lake; and Brad (Aimee) Hagg, Warsaw; seven grandchildren: Karissa (Terry) Blackford, Clarksville; Karlye (Aaron); Johnson, West Bloomfield, Mich.; Thomas Meredith, Silver Lake; Valerie Meredith, South Whitley; and Jon Hagg, Silver Lake; Miriam Hagg and McKale Hagg; both of Warsaw; six great-grandchildren, Mylee, Carson, Parker, Hunter, Tucker, and Sophia; sister, Rosalie (David) Nye, Warsaw.

Family held a special spot in Norm’s life. The compassion and care Pat provided to many during a career in nursing and the many positive accomplishments and achievements by the children over the years brought much joy to a very proud husband and parent.

Hagg retired from the Times-Union in 2013 following an amazing career with the newspaper spanning almost five decades. He had the privilege of working for the Williams family, founders of the newspaper 164 years ago, and whose descendants still own it today. He learned the skills of his profession from such outstanding mentors as Executive Editor William K. Mollenhour, Editor Curtis (Gabby) Garber, and Publisher Reub Williams, who recruited him from WRSW in 1962 to begin his newspaper career as a general assignment reporter. Hagg later served as the Times-Union’s sports editor, city editor, managing editor, editor in chief, and general manager prior to his retirement. Along with his newspaper duties Hagg remained active in radio for a period of time and was the “Voice of the Tigers” doing play-by-play basketball broadcasts for many games in the 70s and early 80s.

Hagg, as a member of the media, was inducted into the Kosciusko County High School Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013.

Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m., Thursday, May 31, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.

His funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 1, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by Pastor Jack Worth.  A graveside service will follow at Leesburg Cemetery in Leesburg, Indiana.

The family would appreciate memorial contributions in Norm’s honor to be given to the Dutchtown Brethren Church, 4057 E. 300 N., Warsaw, Indiana  46582; or to the Cancer Care Fund administered by the Kosciusko  Community Foundation, 102 East Market Street,  Warsaw, Indiana  46580.
