Elena Lanae Moore, 2 months old, Warsaw, passed away at 10:40 a.m., Oct. 30, 2017, in Warsaw. She was born on August 17, 2017 to Steven Brown and Marrisa Moore in Fort Wayne.

Elena is survived by her parents, paternal grandmother, Norma Lemaster, Warsaw; maternal grandmother, Liz Moore, Warsaw; two sisters, Avril and Olivia Moore and one brother, Steven Brown Jr. She is preceded in death by her paternal great grandfather, Chester Shuster; a cousin, Cameron Scarberry and a heartfelt grandmother, Paula 

Fitzpatrick.

Funeral Services will be private with Bob Jarboe officiating.

Visitation will also be private.

Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery’s Garden of Angels, Warsaw

Mary Frances Noble, 88, Warsaw, passed away at 12:52 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, in her residence.  She was born Dec.14, 1928 in Claypool, to Merl Royse and Blanche Irene (Harper) Engle.

She was a lifetime Kosciusko County resident.  On April 17, 1949, she was united in marriage to Aubrey Wayne Noble in Winona Lake. She was a former Clerk for the Kosciusko County Superior and Circuit Court s

ystems from 1962 to 1986 for a total of 24 years. She was also a former employee of Bodkin Abstract Company, Warsaw.  For most all of her life, Mary was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Warsaw. She sang in the church choir and was an active member who served on various boards at the church.  In addition, she was a life time member of Beta Sigma Phi.

She is survived by her Son; Randall (spouse Sandra) Noble, Warsaw, Brother; Max L. Engle, Warsaw, sisters; Royse M. Engle, Winona Lake, and Nancy Kleeman, Warsaw, five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a son-in-law; Reg Whetstone also survives.  She was preceded in death by her husband; Aubrey Wayne Noble, Daughter; Susan Whetstone, sisters; Mearlene Kasse Bauu and Ruth M. Seiffert, a brother; Eugene Engle also precedes.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 6,in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Pastor Ernie Troxell of Trinity United Methodist Church will officiate the service.  Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

, 50, Warsaw, passed away at 2:44 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017, in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne surrounded by his loving family. He was born Jan. 25, 1967 in Warsaw to D. Phil and L. Sue (Jackson) Stiver.

David loved his visits to Magical Meadows and participating in horseback riding. In addition, he was an avid movie fan and especially enjoyed the television series Dukes of Hazard and the Beverly Hillbillies.

Survivors include his parents Phil and Sue Stiver of Warsaw, brother Tom Stiver, sister Jennifer (spouse Sherlock) Harrison both of Warsaw, nephews Bishop Harrison and Tanner Stiver, nieces Brooklyn, Brielle and Braisha Harrison and Taylor Stiver. Furthermore, aunts Kathie Beery, Jerrollene Reese, Deborah Geiger and Bertha Gayheart and uncle Kevin Stiver survive along with many cousins He was preceded by his grandparents Alger and Angie Jackson and Donald and Mary Stiver.

Calling hours are scheduled from 4-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Funeral services are scheduled at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, with Elder Gary Hurd officiating. Interment will be in Mentone Cemetery, Mentone.

Ruby Irene Sausaman

Ruby Irene Sausaman, 93, Warsaw, passed away at 2 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 2017, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw.

She was born on Nov. 16, 1923 in South Bend, to Daisy Mae Lake and Ralph Noggle. On Nov. 2, 1941 she was united in marriage to Rex I. Sausaman who preceded her in death.

She graduated from Leesburg High School in 1941 and worked as a farmer most of her life and also worked in an ammunition factory during World War II. She was a member of the Dutchtown Brethren Church. She enjoyed needlework and sewing along with gardening and spending time with her beloved family.

She is survived by her daughters: Nancy (Bob) Framme of Churubusco, Sally (and deceased spouse Fritz) Kahlenberg of Tampa, Fla. son: Ron (Evelin) Sausaman of Las Vegas, Nev., sister: Norma Loe of Provo, Utah and many grandchildren and great grandchildren; a special family friend, Linda McCleary of Warsaw, also survives.

She was preceded in death by her husband and 2 sisters.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6 in Oakwood Cemetery with Pastor Jack Worth officiating.

Phillip L. Abbett — PENDING

Phillip L. “Phil” Abbett, 85, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017 at his home. He was born on June 4, 1932 in Hunts, Ark., to Oral W. & Goldie (Feighner) Abbett.

He attended Huntington Public Schools and was married on June 6, 1952 in Huntington, Ind., to Phyllis J. Henmyer who preceded him on December 6, 2014. He and his wife  moved to the Warsaw area in 1956 from Huntington. He formerly worked for Likens Seawall in North Webster, Paul Baugher Construction in North Webster, was a bus driver for North Webster School, Steve Wilcox Well Drilling in Sidney, and was a delivery man for Sears in Warsaw.

He attended the Country Bible Church in North Webster and formerly attended the North Webster Church of God.

He is survived by his daughter, Brenda (Gus) Ditsch of South Bend, and brother Rhynard Abbett of Huntington.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two daughters, Belinda Abbett and Sheila Abbett, son Todd Abbett, sister Virginia Sheller, and brother William Abbett.

Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. St. Rd 15, Warsaw. Arrangements are pending at this time. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Betty Gaye Berger

Betty Gaye Berger, 82, North Webster, passed away at 11:25 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3, 2017, at Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw. She was born on March 26, 1935 in Chester, Ill. to Roy M. and LaVerne E. (Bueckman) Tindall.

She grew up in Chester, Ill. and graduated in 1953 from Chester High School. She moved to the Warsaw and North Webster area in 1961 from Chester, Ill. and was married on July 28, 1962 in North Webster to David William “Dave” Berger who preceded her on May 9, 2016. She was a homemaker and a librarian at North Webster Elementary for 15 years.

She was a founding member of the New Life Christian Church & World Outreach in Warsaw and the Sha–Na Girls.

She is survived by two daughters: Lori (Matt) Brubaker, Warsaw; Michele (Jerry) Fisher, North Webster; Gina Bono, Boulder, Colo.; nine grandchildren; one great grandson; four step grandchildren and nine step great grandchildren; five brothers: Robert (Gale) Tindall, St. Peters, Mo.; Ronald (Sharon) Tindall, Lake St. Louis, Mo.; Richard (Donna) Tindall, St. Charles, Mo.; Tom (Sherrie) Tindall, Chester, Ill.; Michael (Rosie) Tindall, Chester, Ill.; sister-in-law: Lois Tindall, Chester, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Melody May, step grandson, Kinser Brubaker, and brother, Monte Tindall.

Cremation will take place at cremation services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. St. Rd 15, Warsaw. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11 at New Life Christian Church & World Outreach, 744 S. 325E, Warsaw. Memorial services will follow at 2 p.m. in the church on Saturday with Pastor John B. Lowe II officiating. Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd 13 & CR 500N, North Webster is in charge of arrangements.

Lara Popenfoose, Warsaw, passed away at 2:23 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017, in her residence.

She was born January 10, 1977 in Warsaw to Larry D. and Debra (Edwards) Popenfoose. A lifetime Kosciusko County resident, she was a homemaker and full-time mother.

Survivors include her children Arissa, Ryan and Devin Caudill, all of Warsaw, companion Loren Laird of Warsaw and sister Tara Prater and brother Joby (spouse Amanda) Popenfoose, both of Warsaw. Furthermore, grandchildren Aleavia and Aylah Hurd and Iliana Caudill with a grand-daughter Paisley Jean Caudill due in January 2018. She was preceded by her father, Larry and mother Debra, and grandparents Paul Popenfoose and Patricia Purdy.

Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 10, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel with Chaplain Bob Jarboe officiating. Interment will be private.

John J. Hale, 81, Warsaw, passed away at 10:36 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017, in Mason Health Care and Rehabilitation, Warsaw. He was born May 20, 1936 in Noble County to John Anderson and Ina Pearl Hale.

A Warsaw resident since 1966 he was united in marriage to Jennifer Meade on May 28, 1966 who passed away in 2002. John was a a Agricultural Worker for Creighton Brothers.

Survivors include sons David (spouse Laura) Hale and Gary Hale both of Warsaw, and grand-daughters Samantha Hale of Fort Wayne and Courtney Hale of Warsaw. He was preceded by his wife and a son Robert.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13 in Oakwood Cemetery by Chaplain Denny Bollenbacher . Arrangements are entrusted to McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.

Frances M. Armey, 94, Warsaw, passed away at 4:55 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017, in Mason Healthcare and Rehabilitation, Warsaw. She was born Jan. 28, 1923 in Milford to Ross and Edith (Stout) Timmons.

She was united in marriage to Merle Armey who preceded her. She retired from Zimmer, Inc. after 13 years of service as a Plastic Molder. She was of Baptist faith.

Survivors include a son Larry (spouse Linda) Armey of Warsaw, a daughter Debra Ann Armey of Indianapolis, sisters Phillis G. (spouse Lenord) Copenhagen and Dorothy Stutzman both of Goshen and Donna Bell Yoder of Milford. In addition, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild survive. She was also preceded by a brother and one son Roger.

Services will be private. Interment will be in Milford Cemetery, Milford. Arrangements are entrusted to McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.

Berneice M. Curtis, 99, Claypool, passed away at 12:08 p.m. Nov. 8, 2017,  in Kosciusko Community Hospital.

On Oct. 7, 1918 in North Judson she was born to Edward and Nadine (Carter) Lane. She was united in marriage to Raymond Eugene Curtis on Oct. 28, 1939 in Goshen.

She worked for Heckman Bindery in North Manchester, retiring in 1988. She attended Warsaw Wesleyan Church.

She is survived by her son; Bill Eugene Barbara) Curtis of Winona Lake, daughter; Sharon Lee (Stan) Cripe of North Manchester. She is further survived by four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded by her husband Raymond, her parents, sisters; Loraine Black, Ruth Troft and brothers; Robert, Claude and Tim Lane.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel in Pierceton with Chaplain Bob Jarboe officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service and burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Pierceton.

Donald Ward, 70, Warsaw, passed away at 2:54 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017, in Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne. He was born July 7, 1947 in Gulfport, MS. to D.B. and Adrian (Crebs) Ward.

Donald faithfully served his Country in the United State Army from July 27, 1966 to April 27, 1979 attaining the Rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6_ with 1st Cavalry). He was united marriage to Margaret Hatten on Sept. 26, 2006 in Indianapolis. A Warsaw resident for 8 years, he was a former truck driver for Scheinder Trucking, a self-employed locksmith and a graduate of Rhema Bible School of Broken Arrow, AZ.
In addition, he was a lifetime member of VFW Post #1126 and Member of American Legion Post #49, both of Warsaw. b

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Ward, Warsaw; son Timothy (Wendy) Ward, Jonesboro, Ark.; stepchildren: Margaret Ann Slone, Warsaw; Dorothy Wood, Fort Wayne; DeWayne Wood, North Manchester; grandchildren: Ryan Fischer, Maumelle, Ark.; Cory Fischer, Jonesboro, Ark.; Marlee Bass, Jonesboro, Ark.; seven step grandchildren plus many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents D.B. & Adrian Ward, brother Danny F Ward and sister Diane B Jones.

Visitation hours are scheduled from 1-3 p.m. in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, Saturday, Nov. 11. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. Saturday with Pastor David Cripe officiating. Interment will be private in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw with Military Honors rendered by American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126.

Gordon H. Vanator

Gordon H. Vanator, a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, passed away at 11:19 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017, in Fort Wayne’s Lutheran Hospital. He was 83 years old.

One of two sons born to Robert “Guy” Vanator and his wife, Mary E. (Parker) Vanator, Gordon was born on June 2, 1934 in Warsaw. He was a graduate of Claypool H.S. and earned a bachelor’s degree in education. Gordon would later go on the earn his master’s degree and had attended both Indiana University and Manchester College. Gordon was also a proud veteran of the United States Army National Guard. He served for nearly ten years and oversaw the main mess hall, ensuring everyone was fed.

Gordon was married to Jane (Hamman) Bohlin on Oct. 11, 2016 in Coldwater, Mich. by their good friend, Pastor Larry Burkhart. Jane survives in Warsaw.

Gordon was a man with a great sense of humor, many talents and countless interests. He enjoyed staying abreast of changes in agriculture and local farming and loved his family’s farm, Vana Dell Farms; after his father was no longer able, he devoted himself to it.

A teacher by trade, Gordan was an advocate for local 4-H programs and other youth programs.  He was certified as a referee and had officiated basketball and football games for many years. Later, he was in charge of hosting referees for home games, choosing to donate his pay back to the athletic department.

Professionally, he had taught, first in math and history, before working as a guidance counselor and then as a principal before his retirement. After retiring, he served for 8 years as a member of the Warsaw Community School Board, serving as President for three years.

Gordon was a certified chemist, owned his own fertilizer business, was licensed as a Private Pilot, was a member of the Masonic Lodge and of the North Webster American Legion Post 253.

In addition to his wife, Jane, survivors include son, Robert (Nichole) Vanator of Indianapolis; step-son, Kerry Morton of Leesburg; step-grandchildren: Elizabeth Brumblow and Marcus Brumblow of Claypool and Devan Morton of South Whitley; step-great-grandson, Jackson and sister-in-law, Marie Vantor. He is also survived by numerous, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Those who preceded Gordon in passing include his parents, Guy and Mary, and his brother, Dr. Douglas Vanator.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Tuesday, Nov. 14, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in Titus Funeral Home, 2000 Sheridan Street, Warsaw. A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Larry Burkhart, will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Warsaw’s Oakwood Cemetery with military honors by members of American Legion Post 253, North Webster.
