Randall (Randy) Ray Piper, 67, Warsaw, passed away Feb. 13, 2018, after a 15-month battle of Lymphoma. He was born on Nov. 15, 1950, to V. Ray and Rosemary (Spangle) Piper, along with his twin brother, Rodney, in Wabash. 

He never stopped smiling. Known for his contagious laugh and rock-n-roll attitude, he will live in the hearts of all who have had the pleasure of knowing him. He enjoyed “shootin’ the breeze” with his friends and family, playing air drums and guitar to classic rock, telling jokes, and could see the silver lining in any situation. He showed his talents in woodworking through construction for 35+ years. His blood, sweat and tears were spread all across the country in countless homes and businesses with astounding craftsmanship.

He is preceded in death by his son, Brian Ray Piper.

He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Kathy Piper; parents, V. Ray and Rosemary Piper; son, Jeremy (Stephanie); step-children: Kelly (Deigo) Basalo and Nathan (Amy) Packer. He also leaves behind seven siblings: Deborah (Dennis) Alvarez, Rodney Piper (his twin), Kimra Olde, Pamela (Roger) Piper-Ruth, Laura (Ric) Kingsley, Ryan (Diane) Piper, Reid Piper, and lots of nieces, nephews and grandchildren, who will dearly miss him. “You the man, Ran”

Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, March 31,  with a Memorial Service at 4 p.m.with Chaplain Bob Jarboe officiating in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw is entrusted with the arrangements.

Katherine Calhoun

Katherine Calhoun, 75, and a resident of Warsaw for the past 60 years, passed away at Parkview Regional Medical Center at 3:46 a.m., Sunday, March 25, 2018.

Mrs. Calhoun was born in Watergap, Ky. Sept. 17, 1942. She was one of eleven children and the daughter of Jay and Mollie (Hall) Shepherd. She attended school in Kentucky and would eventually find herself moving to Pierceton before settling in Warsaw. Katherine Shepherd and Lester Calhoun were united in marriage Oct. 8, 1962, in Claypool; together the two would share 55 years before her passing.

A hardworking person, Calhoun held various positions with Jomac Glove, Maple Leaf Farms, Wong’s Restaurant and spent more than 30 years at Warsaw Plating Works. She enjoyed crafting, especially knitting and crochet. She liked garage sales and flea markets and loved time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Harvest Community Church, Pierceton.

In addition to her husband, Lester Calhoun, two daughters survive: Sandra (Duane) Mayhew, Warsaw; and Vicky (David) Gardner, Winnsborro, Texas. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Leslie (Tyler) Davis, Melvin Keplinger, Katie Gardner and Will Gardner; two brothers: George Shepherd and Clark Shepherd; three sisters: Norma Jean Wood, Jeanette Kirkland and Grace Woodling and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, four sisters and her parents.

Friends may join family for a time of visitation from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, March 28, at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw. A funeral service will follow, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Funeral Home with Pastor Glenn Hall, Harvest Community Church, officiating. Burial will take place in Warsaw’s Oakwood Cemetery at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 29.

Those wishing to express their sympathy are encouraged to give memorial gifts to Harvest Community Church, 512 South Seventh Street, Pierceton, IN 46562.

Rita K. Kimberlin

Rita K. Kimberlin, 54, Warsaw, passed Sunday, March 25, 2018, at her residence.

She was born on Nov. 9, 1963, in Lawrence County, Ky. to Ray and Ida (Jackson) Kimberlin.

In June of 1996, she started a relationship with Tom Hopkins that has continued until her passing.

After her education at Warsaw High School she worked for Creighton Brothers and Ristance of Mentone. She also was assistant manager at the Victory Hotel.

She enjoyed reading her pocket New Testament, shopping, cleaning, going for walks, watching comedies, and her morning coffee. In warmer weather she enjoyed going for a cruise with Tom Hopkins looking at decorations especially in the fall.

She is survived by her companion; her sons, Alexander Bruner, North Manchester; Jonathan Kimberlin, North Manchester; two granddaughters; four sisters and a brother.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Services will be held at 6 p.m., Monday, April 2, at Cook’s Chapel Church in Warsaw. Pastor Earl Futch will officiate.

Jason ‘Mikey’ Peterson

Jason “Mikey” Peterson passed away unexpectedly at 11:37 a.m. at his home in Warsaw, Sunday, March 25, 2018. The funny, creative, father of two, was 37 at the time of his death.

He was born Sept. 20, 1980, in Warsaw and had attended Whitko Schools. He worked for KGP Logistics and for Pierceton Welding as a metal fabricator.

He was known for his good sense of humor and his fun-loving personality. He enjoyed working on projects with his children, helping them with crafts, and fishing. Equally as creative as he was handy, he liked installing and working with various types of lighting; he liked working with Neon, LED and other such specialty lighting.

Those who survive with memories to treasure include his wife, Jessica Craft-Peterson of Silver Lake; two daughters, Zoey Peterson of Silver Lake and Kadence Peterson of Fort Wayne; parents, Larry and Lynne Rose of Akron; brother, Travis Rose of Arizona; sister, Heather Rose of Winona Lake and maternal grandfather, Thomas Sieron of Arizona.

He was preceded in passing by his paternal grandparents, Jacqueline and Leander Rose, Jr; maternal grandmother, Donna Carr and by two uncles, Randy and Stanley Rose.

Friends and family will join together for viewing from 4-7 p.m., Thursday, March 29,at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw. A funeral service celebrating Jason’s life will follow, beginning at 7 p.m. with Pastor Terry Bradford, First Freewill Baptist Church of Kosciusko County, officiating.

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy be directed toward Jason’s final expenses, in care of Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw, IN 46580.

Linda Sue Music, 70, Warsaw, passed away at 2:24 p.m., Monday, March 26, 2018, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw. She was born Sept. 28, 1947,

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Louise Coldren, and her eldest sibling, Gwendolyn.  She is survived by her sister, Rita Soberg; her brothers, Roger (and Judy) Coldren and Ron (and Jeanne) Coldren; her son, Matt and daughter Gwen.

She was a lifelong resident of Warsaw; graduated from Warsaw High in 1965 and Ivy Tech in 1977. She spent her years since enjoying her community and many loved family members and cherished friends.

Please join us in celebrating her life from 4-6 p.m., Monday, April 2, at First Christian Church; 115 Park Ridge Dr., Warsaw, with family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. in the church with Reverend Jim Lawson officiating.

Norman Wayne Coffman

Norman Wayne Coffman, 83, Saugatuck, Mich., passed away at his son’s residence in Winona Lake, at 12:47 a.m., Tuesday, March 27, 2018.

He was born Aug. 5, 1934, in Battle Creek, Mich. to Clifton Wayne Coffman and Rhea Mae (Olmstead) Coffman.

He was a 1954 graduate of Howe Military Academy in Howe, and then attended the University of Toledo in Ohio. He joined the U.S. Army in 1956 and was stationed in Germany until his honorable discharge in 1960. He had been a resident of Kosciusko County, for 31 years where in 1962 he founded Warsaw Moving and Storage. He operated it until 1993.

He then founded the Four C’s Charters in Saugatuck, Mich., retiring in 2016.

He was a member of the Grand Lodge Free and Accepted Masons of Michigan, a Shriner, and a member of the Community Church of Douglas in Douglas, Mich.

He was first married to Mickie Saldivar on May 25, 1957, and later divorced in 2006. Together they had two sons: Wayne (wife Tricia) Coffman, Naples, Fla.; and Scott (wife Barb) Coffman, Winona Lake.

He was re-married on June 17, 2006, to Sarah Jean (Sneider) Coffman, who survives in Saugatuck.

He leaves behind ten grandchildren: Dawn (husband Chris) Paris; Melissa Coffman; Cory (wife Elena) Coffman; Brittany (husband Paul) Miller; Zack (wife Megan) Coffman; Courtney, Haley, and Mercy Coffman; Carla Quintero; and Josh Thomas.  As well as ten great-grandchildren: Jake, Brookelyn, Nicholas, Ashley, Evan, Kylie, Toby, Harrison, Stormy, and Vanessa.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter, Rosie Brickel also a grandson Stephen Brickel.

Services will be announced at a later date. He will be buried at Lakeside Cemetery in Colon, Michigan.

Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.

Mariano Marquez Nuñez

Mariano Marquez Nuñez, 62, Warsaw, passed away at his residence at 2:32 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28, 2018.

He was born Sept. 12, 1955, in Salvatierra in the State of Guanajuato, Mexico to J. Trinidad Marquez and Maria De La Luz Nuñez. He was married on May 6, 1977, to Maria del Carmen Aranda Ugalde, who survives.

He was a resident of Kosciusko County, for the past 25 years where he worked at Bob Evans in Warsaw as a prep-cook, and he had also worked at Creighton Brothers in Warsaw.

He leaves behind his wife: Maria del Carmen Aranda Ugalde, Mexico; four sons: Daniel, Enrique, Jesus and Juan Jose, all of Mexico; three daughters: Lucy, California; Rosy and Carmen, both of Mexico; eleven grandchildren, four brothers, and five sisters.

Visitation will be held from noon-4 p.m., Saturday, March 31, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw. Burial will take place in Urireo, Salvatierra in the State of Guanajuato, Mexico.

Larry Duane Richardson

Larry Duane Richardson, 61, Warsaw, was lovingly known by all as “Lew” or Big Man”, passed away at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at I.U. Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born on June 3, 1956, in Warsaw, to William “Bill” Richardson and Mary Ann (Haywood) Richardson. He was married on July 13, 1989, to JoAnn (Williams) Richardson, who survives.

A lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, his childhood years were spent in Silver Lake, before his family moved to Warsaw.  Mr. Richardson was a 1974 graduate of Warsaw High School, then attended Purdue University. He had worked for many years for Bertsch Vending Company and Hand Industries, both of Warsaw. He was the purchasing manager for Snyder Food Services in Kendallville, where he retired in January 2018. He was an avid Chicago Bears and Purdue fan, and loved to play golf.

He especially enjoyed socializing with family and friends and was quite often the life of the party. He had a real unique talent of creating quirky sayings and quoting hilarious lines from movies. He will be dearly missed and forever loved by his family and all who knew him.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 29 years, JoAnn Richardson, Warsaw; two nephews: Jerry W. (Sarah) Richardson, Westfield; Jonathan L. (Nora) Richardson, Chicago, Ill.; great niece and nephews: Will, Maddie, Emmett, and Henry; and his sister-in-law: Paula Richardson, Leesburg. He also leaves behind two very special friends, Tim and Shirlee Hauth, Warsaw; and two furry friends.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ann Richardson in 2008; his father, William “Bill” Richardson in 2012; and his brother Jerry L. Richardson in 2016.

A memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 6, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw and officiatd by Pastor Jamy Gregory. There will be time for friends and family to visit prior to the memorial service from 4-6 p.m.

There will be a reception hosted by the family after the service from 6:45 – 8:30 p.m. at the Warsaw Elks Lodge, 310 E. Center Street, Warsaw.

Danny Eugene ‘Brummy’ Brumfield

Danny Eugene “Brummy” Brumfield was born Dec. 18, 1948, to Eugene Brumfield and Nancy Prout Brumfield and died at the Corrnerstone Hospice House in The Villages, Fla. on March 13, 2018.

Brumfield graduated in 1967 from Warsaw Community High School and worked at DePuy from 1978 retiring in 2012.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy Brumfield, Stuart Brumfield (Amanda) and their children, Mikayla, Tiffany and Daniel; Morgan Kelly and her children, Gabriel and Jadyn. He is also survived by his mother, Nancy; two sisters, Jody Burns (Tom) and Patty Williams (Chuck) along with several nieces, nephews, and their children. He was preceded in death by his father Eugene and his sister Ruth.

He was a member of the Midway Road Baptist Church, Fort Pierce, Fla. In Warsaw, he was a member of the Elks Lodge #802, Warsaw and served as a past Exalted Ruler as well as Member of the Warsaw Masonic Lodge #73, F.&A.M., Fort Wayne Valley Scottish Rite, Mizpah Shrine Temple, Fort Wayne and served on the board of directors as Rozella Ford Golf Course.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., at McHatton -Sadler Funeral Chapel, April 7, with Chaplain Murry Herron, Major, United States Army, Ret. and Pastors Israel Young and Glenn Hall officiating. Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m.

Danny Brumfieldwas loved by all and never met a stranger. He loved his family without end, enjoyed golfing, bowling, the Cubs and the Bears.

Lois C. Carter, 78, Warsaw, passed away at 10:55 a.m., Thursday, March 29, 2018, in Mason Health Care and Rehabilitation, Warsaw. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Howard Ritter and Mary Anna (Hrushka) Ritter and her youngest sibling Mary Esther Campbell.

She is survived by her sister, Agnes Marie Pope; her brother, Howard John Ritter; her son, Theodore Alan Carter; and granddaughter, Larabeth Gladys Ryan.

She was born in Prairie City, Ore. on July 11, 1939. She was a 5th generation Oregonian dating back to 1852 on her father’s side. Her mother was born Mary Anna Hrushka and had emigrated from Austria prior to the breakout of WW1. She married to Omar Thomas Carter in 1960 and moved to Warsaw. She worked at Crownover Jewelry until 1979 when she moved back to Bend, Ore. She came back to Leesburg in 2005 to be close to her son and family. She retired from Walmart in 2016

She was a very loving mother who always took the time participate in her son’s life and put others before herself. She loved all creatures big and small, especially cats. She enjoyed jewelry, gemstones, and rock collecting.

No services will be held. Her wishes are to be cremated and interred at Pilot Butte Cemetery in Bend, Ore. McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw is entrusted with arrangements.

Joan Elaine Hoke

Joan Elaine Hoke of Warsaw, went home to be with the Lord at 3:27 p.m. on Friday, March 30, 2018, at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne at the age of 67.

She was born on Oct. 12, 1950, in Waterloo, Iowa to Melvin J. Lesh and Florence May (Hager) Lesh. On July 10, 2004, she was married to Noel Hoke, who survives.

Hoke graduated from High School in 1968 in La Porte City, Iowa, and continued her education at Grace College and Seminary in Winona Lake, receiving her bachelor’s degree in 1972.  She taught school in Iowa, North Carolina, Calif., and worked at Grace Seminary West until moving to Winona Lake in 1990 to work in the Advancement Department at Grace College and Seminary. For a number of years she worked as an administrative assistant at Grace Brethren International Missions, and most recently she had been working at Carey Excavation in Warsaw. She was a member of Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church. Hoke loved people, especially her family. She will be dearly missed by her family, church family and countless friends. 

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 13 years, Noel Hoke, Warsaw; three daughters: Kelli (husband Scott) Schneider, Winona Lake; Kaylin (husband Emil) Dragan, Fort Wayne; Karla (husband Don) Cosgrove, Winona Lake; and three grandchildren Luke, Katie and Evan.Also surviving are two brothers Jeff (wife Sheri) Lesh, La Porte City, Iowa; Jerry (wife Karen) Lesh, Marion, Iowa; and her sister Julie (husband Ron) Smith, Pittsburgh, Penn. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson Ben.           

Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 3,  at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.

Her funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 4, at Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church, 1200 Kings Highway, Winona Lake, and officiated by Pastor Bruce Barlow.  Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw. 

Memorial donations in Joan’s name may be directed to Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church, 1200 Kings Highway, Winona Lake, Indiana 46590 and designated to Winona Lake Kids and would be appreciated by the family.

Ralph J. Myers, daddy, grandpa and hardworking Christian, passed away on Thursday, March 29, in Warsaw. He was 88 years old at the time of his death.

Myers was born on April 17, 1929 in Bristol. He was the son of Eli and Mae Myers and, on Sept. 24, 1960, he was united in marriage to Deanna Kuhn in Dunkirk.

Myers was a hardworking man, retiring in 1991 from Warsaw Plating Works after 42 years of dedicated service. He also worked for Don Weirich, helping with his gas station, his cab service and on the farm. He worked for Lakeside Chevrolet and managed Bibler Trailer Court, with his wife, for many years.

A veteran of the United States Army, Myers was a member of American Legion, Post 49 and a longtime member of New Salem Church of the Brethren. He was a recycler and scrapper who always had a purpose for odds and ends. He enjoyed gardening, tending yard and reading. He also enjoyed camping, spending many weekends at River City Christian Campground in South Whitley and enjoying trips to Colorado and Florida.

Dearly missed but never forgotten, Myers is survived by his two daughters: Bobbi (Garry) Barnes of Yellow Creek Lake and Penni Myers of Warsaw; one granddaughter, Amanda Myers (Alan Wireman) of Churubusco and seven grandsons: Jason Spore (Kylie Seaton) of Phoenix, AZ, Sean (Karrie) Spore of Winona Lake, Jeff (Loretta “Gabby”) Barnes of Lafayette, Brian (Amber) Barnes of Wanatah, Doug (Lindsay) Barnes of Jackson, TN, Brad Barnes of Claypool and Jacob (Sarah) Myers of Churubusco. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren and a sister, Pat (Glenn) Goshorn of Fort Wayne.

Deanna Myers, Myers’s beloved wife of 57 years, preceded him in passing in September 2017. Also preceding him are three sisters Lucy, Ruth and Maxine and two brothers Art and Roy.

Friends may join family for visitation at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw, from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 5. A funeral service will take place in the Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Friday with burial following in North Webster Cemetery, Mock Addition. Pastor Tim Yoder will officiate the services.

Arthur Campbell, 78, Warsaw, passed away at 12:45 a.m., Monday, April 2, 2018, in Peabody Retirement Center, North Manchester. He was born Jan. 27, 1940, in Baxter, Tenn. to Arthur and Carrie (Patton) Campbell.

He faithfully served his Country in the United Sates Army from 1961 to 1963 as a Specialist 4. A lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, he was a longtime Truck Driver serving many local companies.

He is survived by his brothers: Bob (Jean) Campbell, Warsaw; and Roy (Barbara) Campbell, Idaho; and a sister, Betty Winchester, Warsaw. Loved ones who preceded him are brothers: Lloyd, Hubert, Donald Richard and John and a sister, Beulah Foreman.

At his request, services will be held privately for the family. McHatton-Sadler funeral Chapel, Warsaw is entrusted with the arrangements.

A veteran of the United States Army, he was a member of American Legion, Post 49 and a longtime member of New Salem Church of the Brethren. He was a recycler and scrapper who always had a purpose for odds and ends. He enjoyed gardening, tending yard and reading. He also enjoyed camping, spending many weekends at River City Christian Campground in South Whitley and enjoying trips to Colorado and Florida.

Dearly missed but never forgotten, Mr. Myers is survived by his two daughters: Bobbi (Garry) Barnes of Yellow Creek Lake; and Penni Myers of Warsaw; one granddaughter, Amanda Myers (Alan Wireman) of Churubusco; and seven grandsons: Jason Spore (Kylie Seaton) of Phoenix, Ariz.; Sean (Karrie) Spore of Winona Lake; Jeff (Loretta “Gabby”) Barnes of Lafayette; Brian (Amber) Barnes of Wanatah; Doug (Lindsay) Barnes of Jackson, Tenn.; Brad Barnes of Claypool; and Jacob (Sarah) Myers of Churubusco. He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren and a sister, Pat (Glenn) Goshorn of Fort Wayne.

Deanna Myers, Mr. Myers’ beloved wife of 57 years, preceded him in passing in September 2017. Also preceding him are three sisters: Lucy, Ruth and Maxine and two brothers: Art and Roy.

Friends may join family for visitation at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw, from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, April 5. A funeral service will take place in the Funeral Home at 10 a.m., Friday with burial following in North Webster Cemetery, Mock Addition. Pastor Tim Yoder will officiate the services.
