Fern Neff, 82, Crown Point, formerly of Goshen, passed away Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016.

She is survived by her two sons: Eric (Beverly) Neff, Dr. Brett (Betsy) Neff; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brother, Doug Method; and her sister, Karen McCourt.  Preceded in death by husband, Donald L. Neff.

Fern Neff was a retired elementary school teacher for the Goshen School System. She was a graduate of Leesburg High School, and a graduate of I.U. South Bend with a B.S. and an M.A. in teaching. She was an avid golfer, runner, and bowler. Mrs. Neff was also a breast cancer survivor.

Family and friends may call at Pruzin & Little Funeral Service, 811 E. Franciscan Dr., Crown Point, IN (south of St. Rd. 231 on St. Rd. 55) from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6. Funeral services will follow promptly at 7 p.m. (C.S.T.) with Rev. David Kipp officiating.  She will be laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7.

Sally Cecile McKrill, 82, Warsaw, passed away at 12:13 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.

On October 5, 1934, she was born in Warsaw to Leas and Lois (Shock) Bunting. She was united in marriage to Benjamin L. McKrill Feb. 15, 1953 in Warsaw. Sally was a housewife who loved spending time with her family.  She was also of the Protestant faith.

Sally is survived by her husband of sixty three years, Benjamin L. McKrill, Warsaw; her son, Benjamin Allan (and spouse Amber) McKrill, Warsaw; her daughter, Jo (and spouse Stan) Wall, Warsaw; daughter-in-law, Sara McKrill, Huntertown; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. 

Sally was preceded in death by her son, Mark McKrill.

Graveside services will be privately held with Chaplain Bob Jarboe officiating at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Christopher Grady Frey Jr., 6, Celina, Ohio passed away Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016 at the Children’s Medical Center in Dayton. 

He was born April 11, 2010 in Fort Wayne to Jennifer Ann (Leslie) Frey of Celina and the late Christopher Grady Frey, who died Feb. 24, 2013.  Christopher is survived by his sisters: Amarae Stouder, Syracuse; Adara Frey, Warsaw; Delaney Frey, South Salem, Ohio; Sierra Frey,  Columbus; and Liddia Frey of Celina, Ohio. He is further survived by maternal grandparents, Roxanne and Henry DeLaCruz of Larwill; and his God parents, J. Bryan and Diane Wirth, South Bend.

He was preceded in death by his father and his maternal grandfather, Bruce Leslie. 

Christopher was a fun loving kid that played football, loved to fish, play video games, play with his dogs and have campfires.  He was a member of the Cub Scouts Den 1, Pac #69.  

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5 at the Lehman-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina, with Fr. Alfon’s officiating.  Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Lehman-Dzendzel Funeral Home.

Funeral services will also be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel in Warsaw, with Fr. Philip DeVolder officiating. Burial will follow in Mentone Cemetery, Mentone. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel.  

Memorial contributions may be made to the Dayton Children’s Hospital, 1 Children’s Plaza, Dayton, Ohio 45404.

Velma J.Schultz, 99, Warsaw, passed away at 12:50 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017 in Mason Health Care and Rehabilitation, Warsaw.

Velma was born Nov. 7, 1917, at Tippecanoe, to Ed and Myra Warnaucutt.

She was a homemaker; enjoyed her card club; helping her children and sharing her good humor. She was
a graduate of Tippecanoe High School; a member of United Church of Christ and attended First Baptist Church.

On Feb. 9, 1985, she joined in marriage to Gordon W. Schultz, who preceded her in death. She will be greatly missed by her four children: Michael (Gloria) Smith of SanDiego, Calif.; Jerry (Madyline) Smith of Texas; Janice Boyce of Nevada; and Joyce Shue of Warsaw. She was blessed with thirteen grandchildren and twenty-eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her three spouses: William Babcock, Gerald Smith, Gordon Schultz: three sisters: Ruth, Martha and Francis; one grandson Jeremiah Kenton Shue.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home 115 S. Main St. Bourbon, IN 46504. Funeral services will be follow at 1 p.m. in the Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Smith officiating.
Burial will follow in the Parks Cemetery at Bourbon, Indiana.

Robert Eugene ‘Bob’ Olinger

Robert Eugene “Bob” Olinger, 94, Warsaw, died at 6:40 p.m., Jan. 2, 2017 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, three weeks following Betty, his wife of 71 years.

He was comforted by his family and friends not leaving his side.

He was born Nov. 19, 1922 to Chester and Ethel (Pontius) Olinger in Wabash County. On May 5, 1945 he married Betty Alice (Krichbaum) Olinger in Warsaw. Betty passed away Dec. 12, 2016.

He attended Claypool United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church, Warsaw. Bob was a proud Nipsco employee and retired after 40 years. He then delivered trailers for Franklin Coach Company in Nappanee for 25 years with his cohort Ted Heaton.

He grew up in North Manchester and later moved to Warsaw.

Bob is survived by his brothers, Clifford, Donald, Ronald and Kenneth Olinger.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, David Olinger, a daughter, Lynne Olinger. Brothers, Joe, Hirschal, Ruppert, Homer and Loris and sisters, Delores, Dorothy and Cleo.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw with Grace Village Chaplain Bryan Benjamin and Pastor Bob Jarboe officiating.  Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Visitation will be held from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6 at the funeral chapel. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kosciusko County Community Foundation, designated to the Jimmy Baker Diabetes Fund for local diabetes, 102 East Market Street, Warsaw, IN 46580.

Austin D. Hauth

Austin D. Hauth, 85, Warsaw, died at 11:04 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017 in Warsaw Meadows Care Center.

He was born May 7, 1931 in Warsaw to Roy E. and Thelma M. (Dunn) Hauth. He graduated from Warsaw High School in 1951 and went on to marry Patty J. Gordon, Oct. 3, 1954 in Warsaw. They were married for 62 years. He was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County except for 20 years when he lived in Sebring, Fla. He moved back to Warsaw in 2008.

He was a tool and dye maker at White Metal Rolling and Stamping Corporation for 28 years. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors where he gardened, rode his bike and fished when he could. Watching old Westerns was a favorite pastime. He was MSgt in Warsaw’s National Guard unit from 1950-1954.

He is survived by his wife: Patty J. Hauth, Warsaw; his daughter, Susan “Sue” (Michael) Zellers, Warsaw; two grandchildren, Matthew Zellers, Warsaw; Jennifer Zellers, Vandalia, Ohio; a brother, Roy F. (Joellen) Hauth, Jr., Winona Lake; a sister, Ruth Ann Neff, Indianapolis; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by his parents; and five brothers: Ernest, Ralph, George, William and infant John; and one sister, Margaret Ann Taylor.

Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with a private family graveside service.

Priscilla A. Woods

Priscilla A. Woods was called home on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016 from her Warsaw residence. She was 76 years old at the time of her passing.

Priscilla was born March 26, 1940 to J. LeRoy Anderson and Annie (Jones) Ryan in Roanoke, Va. She would graduate in Roanoke from Lucy Addison High School but spent much of her adult life in Warsaw.

Priscilla had worked at Zimmer in manufacturing and at Warsaw Walmart. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church and was faithful to their Adult Sunday School and prayer chain. She enjoyed music, especially gospel, and researching genealogy.

Those left to cherish memories of Priscilla include her two brothers: Jimmy (wife, Elisabeth) Anderson of Tucson, Ariz.; and Eugene (wife, Belinda) Anderson of Richmond, Va.; sister, Karen (husband, Albert) Coleman of Roanoke, Va.; grandson, Christopher Anderson of Honolulu, Hawaii; and three great grandchildren: Myles C., Malia G. and Makena R. Anderson, all at home. She is also survived by a large extended family who will miss her dearly.

She was recently preceded in death by her mother, Annie Rose Ryan, and by her daughter, Janet E. Stutzman.

Friends may join the family to share memories and for visitation at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan 7.

A funeral service celebrating Priscilla’s life will follow visitation, beginning at 10 a.m., in the Funeral Home. Pastor Steve Rahn of Warsaw’s First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that gifts be made in Priscilla’s memory to First Baptist Church, 2819 Patterson Road, Warsaw, Indiana 46582.

Ernest William ‘Bill’ Male

Ernest William “Bill” Male, 89, Tecumseh, Mich. completed his earthly journey and stepped into eternity with his Savior Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017 at Cambrian Memory Care Center in Tecumseh, Mich.

He lived the largest portion of his life in Warsaw and Winona Lake.

He was born on Nov. 7, 1927 in Streator, Ill. to Gordon Male and Mary (Morrell) Male.  On Sept. 3, 1950 in Mendon, Mich. he was married to Ella Beth Kauffman, she survives in Tecumseh.

Dr. Male was a resident of Kosciusko County since 1959 where he was a member of Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church of Winona Lake.

After completing his Master of Divinity degree at Grace Theological Seminary, Bill pastored Grace Brethren churches in several states. However, he spent most of his career as a professor and administrator at Grace College and Theological Seminary. Bill was a staunch supporter of Christian education, and his desire to encourage Christian school teachers and administrators led to the development of the nationally-recognized Summer Institutes and Master of Arts programs for educators held on the campus of Grace College and Seminary. His work with the Summer Institutes provided an opportunity for him to serve as one of the founders of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). Bill also had a passion for helping minority students achieve advanced academic degrees, and many of the students he helped are now teaching and preaching around the world.

Bill was a member of the Indiana District Fellowship of Brethren Ministers, National Fellowship of Grace Brethren Ministers, past member of Warsaw Kiwanis Club, and an honorary Phi Delta Kappa member.  Bill greatly enjoyed traveling personally and professionally. His trips took him to many countries in Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Through the years, his other interests included flying, magic tricks, stamp collecting, and bird watching.

Bill is survived by his wife of 66 years Ella Beth (Kauffman) Male, and their four daughters: Martha (husband Jim) Hines, Saginaw, Mich.; Mary (husband Dave) Smith, Allison, Iowa; Ruth (husband Bob) Markham, Oregonia, Ohio; and Becky (husband Jim) Colman, Adrian, Mich.  He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barbara Avery; and his son-in-law, Roy Leon Lowrie.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8 at the Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw. A private family graveside service will take place at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.  A memorial service celebrating Bill’s life will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9 in the Chapel of Grace Village Retirement Community, 337 Grace Village Drive, Winona Lake and officiated by Dr. James Colman.

Memorial donations may be made in Bill’s name to Grace College and Seminary, 200 Seminary Drive, Winona Lake, Indiana and would be appreciated by the family.

Patricia ‘Pat’ Ann Wallen

Patricia “Pat” Ann Wallen, Warsaw, passed away at 12:46 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, 2017 at her residence at the age of 73.

She was born Dec. 10, 1943 in West Palm Beach, Fla. to John H. Slone and Dorothy Louise (Thomas) Slone.  On March 16, 1963 she was married to Milton Wallen, who passed away on Feb. 22, 2001.

Pat was a resident of Kosciusko County since 1962 where she was a member of God’s Highway to Heaven Church of Warsaw.  She had worked in her younger years at Jomac Products in Warsaw, and was a homemaker.  She enjoyed shopping and using Facebook, but she especially loved babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She will be lovingly remembered by her son: Randy (wife Tammy) Wallen, Claypool; daughter: Stephanie (husband Todd) Dickey, Warsaw; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren,

One sister: Brenda Hughes, Wildwood, Fla. also survives

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers: Eugene and Ricky Slone.

Visitation will be held 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 8 at God’s Highway to Heaven Church, 555 W. Webber Street, Warsaw.

Her funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 9 at God’s Highway to Heaven Church and officiated by Pastor Bob Brown.  Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.

Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.

Heath Cripe

Heath W. Cripe, 38, of Warsaw, IN passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at his home. He was born on February 24, 1978 in Elkhart, Ind. to Dennis W. “Denny” & Rozella E. “Sandi” (Rohn) Cripe.

He was a lifetime North Webster/Warsaw area resident and graduated in 1996 from Wawasee High School in Syracuse, Ind. He was employed at Zimmer corporation for 12 years.

He attended the Warsaw Community Church and was a member of the American Motorcycle Association.

He is survived by his mother and step father, Sandi and Dean Anderson of North Webster; father and step mother, Denny and Karen Cripe of Winona Lake; two sisters, Charity Makela of Wheaton, Ill., Kristina Cripe of Greenville, N.C.; brother Ben (Tracey) Anderson of Syracuse and maternal grandmother Martha Rohn of Goshen.

He was preceded in death by his sister LeNea Anderson, maternal grandfather Melvin Rohn, paternal grandparents Herbert & Gladys Cripe, and step grandparents Robert and Louise Anderson.

Visitation will be from 4–7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at Owen Family Funeral Home, SR 13 and CR 500N, North Webster, Ind. Memorial services will follow at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home with Pastors Nick Stanton of the Plymouth Community Church and Erik Ohman of the Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church officiating.

Dixie D. Meyer, 65 of Warsaw, Ind. passed away at 5:03 pm Friday, Jan. 6, 2017 in her residence.

On Aug. 12, 1951, she was born in Omaha, Nebraska to James and Betty Presler. She graduated from Marissa High School, Ill. Dixie was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by three children, Michelle Hull, Centralia, Ill., Sheila Kasperzick, Coulterville, Ill. and Michael Kasperzick Jr., Marissa, Ill.; her brother, Jimmy Presler, Ill.; two sisters, Carol Chandler, Peoria, Ill. and Barbra Summers, Peoria, Ill.; eight grandchildren, Chris Poenitske, Warsaw, Shandi Poenitske, Centralia, Ill., Garrett Poenitske Smith, Puerto Rico, Jacob Hull, Mount Vernon, Ill., Savannah Hull, Centralia, Ill., Lathan Kasperzick, Marissa, Ill., Kamden Kasperzick, Marissa, Illi. and four great grandchildren.

Dixie is preceded in death by her parents and her granddaughter, Brooklyn Kasperzick.

There are no services or burial planned at this time.

Mary E. Snodgress

Mary E. Snodgress, 83, of Warsaw, passed away at noon Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, at Center for Hospice House in Elkhart.

She was born on May 27, 1933 in Fort Wayne to Everett Kenneth and Doris Evelyn (Tutterow) Ditton.

She grew up in the Chicago area and graduated from Calumet High School in Calumet City. She was married on June 18, 1954 in Blountsville to Phillip L. “Phil” Snodgress who preceded her on April 30, 2011.

She formerly worked at Delco Remy in Anderson for 13 years, Walmart in Wabash for four years, Butterballs Convenience Store in North Manchester, and First National Bank of Warsaw. She returned to Indiana in 1954 and lived many years in the New Castle/Muncie area before moving to Warsaw.

She is survived by her son: David “Dave” Snodgress, Warsaw; her grandson: Phil Snodgress, Coldwater, Mich. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers, Kenneth & James Ditton.

No services are planned at this time. Burial will take place at a later date in the Mooreland Cemetery in Mooreland. Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. St. Rd 15, Warsaw is in charge of arrangements.

Richard W. ‘Rick’ Wagner — UPDATED

Richard W. “Rick” Wagner,Pierceton, passed away at 11:14 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6, 2017 in Parkview Regional Hospital, Fort Wayne.  He was 68.

Rick was born July 12, 1948 in Fairmont, Minn. to Kenneth and Kathryn (Huemoller) Wagner.

He was a 1966 graduate of Owatonna High School, Owatonna, Minn. He earned his BA from the University of Minnesota Duluth and his masters degree in Business Administration through Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Rick was inducted into the United States Army Sept. 26, 1967 in Minneapolis, Minn. He served in Korea.  On April 29, 1969 in Fort Lewis, Washington SP4 Richard Wayne Wagner was honorably discharged.

Rick and Deborah J. Brozek were joined in marriage Jan. 5, 1971 in Hermantown, Minn.

He was an insurance agent and the agency owner of Group Benefit Plans.

A member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Shipshewana, Indiana, he was also a member of the NRA and YMCA.  Rick published the book, Islam: Religion or Fascism.  He was the founder of Friends of the Eel River Trail and was a long-distance biker averaging 2000 miles a year.  Rick was an avid salmon fisherman, a University of Minnesota Duluth hockey fan and was a World War ll historian.

Surviving with memories to treasure is his wife:  Deborah Wagner, Pierceton; four sons:  Rick Wagner, Minnesota; Ted Wagner and his wife Jackie of Manistee, Mich.; Samuel Wagner and his wife, Stephanie from Mitchell; and Joseph Wagner and his wife, Farzana from Avon; two daughters: Ona Khot and her husband Manoj of Three Rivers, Mich. and Esther Wagner of Pierceton; nine granddaughters; one great grandson; and his mother: Kathryn and her husband Waldo Dohman of White Bear Lake, Minn.  Also surviving is his sister, Janey and her husband Gene Smith of White Bear Lake; two brothers: David Wagner and his wife Cindy of Fort Dodge, Iowa; and Ken Wagner of Medford, Minn.; along with several nieces and nephews. Rick was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Wagner.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9 in Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw as well as an hour prior to the service held at Crossroads Baptist. That service, celebrating Rick’s life, will take place beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10 at the Crossroads Baptist Church, 2525 N. 900W, Shipshewana, IN 46565. Pastor Mark Suever of the church will officiate.

There will be a graveside service at 3 p.m. that afternoon in Hillcrest Cemetery in Pierceton.  Military graveside honors will be conducted by active military personnel and Warsaw’s American Legion Post #49 and VFW #1126.

The family has asked that gifts in Rick’s memory to be given to the church at the above address.

Dixie D. Meyer, 65, Warsaw, passed away at 5:03 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, 2017 in her residence.

She is survived by three children: Michelle Hull, Centralia, Ill.; Sheila Kasperzick, Coulterville, Ill.; and Michael Kasperzick Jr., Marissa, Ill.; her brother, Jimmy Presler, Ill.; two sisters: Carol Chandler, Peoria, Ill.; and Barbra Summers, Peoria, Ill.; eight grandchildren: Chris Poenitske, Warsaw; Shandi Poenitske, Centralia, Ill.; Garrett Poenitske Smith, Puerto Rico; Jacob Hull, Mount Vernon, Ill.; Savannah Hull, Centralia, Ill.; Lathan Kasperzick, Marissa, Ill.; Kamden Kasperzick, Marissa, Ill.; and four great grandchildren.  Dixie is preceded in death by her parents and her granddaughter, Brooklyn Kasperzick.

There are no services or burial planned at this time.

Robert D. “Bob” Crum Jr., 66, Warsaw, passed away at 10:35 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017 in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.

On March 14, 1950, he was born in Prestonsburg, Ky. to Robert and Betty (Fraley) Crum Sr.  Bob was united in marriage to Donna F. Wallen on June 16, 1973 in Clintwood, Va.  She preceded him in death on Dec. 14, 2013.

Bob moved to Warsaw in 1971, where he worked for Dalton Foundry, Warsaw as a forklift driver, retiring in 2010.  He enjoyed working, fishing and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his son, Steve (and spouse Tammy) Wallen, Fort Wayne; two daughters, Melissa (and spouse Jason) Abbott, Leesburg; and Michelle (and spouse Russell) Flowers – Schutz, Warsaw; his sister, Dolla Music, Kentucky; twelve grandchildren, Taylar Roberts, Ashaunte Wallen, Aaron Flowers, David Lindley, Brandi Lindley, Adam Lindley, Brandon Flowers, Stephanie Lindley, Caleb Wallen, Luca Wallen, Dovlon Wallen, Alec Wallen and nine great grandchildren.  He was also preceded in death by his parents, sister, Linda Briggs and his brother, John Benny.

Services will be held privately at a later date.  Burial will also be at a later date.
