Barbara Jean WagnerBarbara Jean (Lung) Wagner, 78, Warsaw, died Thursday, June 4, 2015, as a result of an automobile accident in Warsaw.

She was born in Garrett on Dece. 4, 1936, to Henry Elvin and Elma (Franks) Lung.

She was a 1954 graduate of Butler High School.

She retired from Zimmer/Bristol Meyers in 2002.

Her hobbies were reading and sewing.

Surviving are daughters: Kathy (Douglas) Smith of Grand Prairie, Texas; Sheryl (Steven) Goddard of Gibraltar, Mich.; Terry (Eric) McLaughlin of Kildeer, Ill.; and Kerry Pirhonen of Los Angeles, Calif.; grandchildren: Douglas, Diana, Alex, Russell, Evelina and Otto; and two great-grandchildren; a brother Henry Elvin Lung Jr. of Winnabow, N.C.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother: James Lung and two sisters: Gloria (David) Butler and Nancy (Earl) Shultz.

Funeral service is 10 a.m. Tuesday June 9, 2015, at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 South Wayne Street, Waterloo, with Rev. Joseph Wagner officiating. Burial is in Corunna Cemetery, Corunna.

Calling is Monday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to the American Cancer Society.

Bonnie ShaferBonnie Shafer, 86, of Warsaw, passed away at 2:48 a.m. Friday, June 5, 2015 at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. She was born on Jan. 12, 1929, to Roy and Lois (Arter) Hubbard in Argos.

Bonnie was united in marriage on Sept. 24, 1949 to Paul Shafer in Akron. She has been a Kosciusko County resident since 1963. She retired from Kosciusko County Treasurer’s Office as a Clerk.

Bonnie is survived by a daughter: Paula (Greg) Dearborn, Warsaw; a son: Rick (Robin) Shafer, Warsaw; grandchildren: Vanessa Shafer, Wasaw; Colin Shafer, Milford; and Dustin Dearborn, Union Grove, Wis.; a sister: Virginia Surguy, Warsaw. She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother; her husband; and one granddaughter.

There will be a funeral service held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 11, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Pastor Jeff Pfeifer will officiate.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, at the funeral chapel.

Burial will be Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Memorial contribution may be given to Fellowship Missions, Winona Lake, or Shepherd’s Ministries, Union Grove, Wis.

He was a lifetime Kosciusko County resident. He retired in 1994 as a electrical mechanic for C and I and Medtronic, after 21 years.

He was a past trustee of VFW Men’s Auxiliary Post 1126; past trustee of Eagles; member of Kosciusko County Saddle Club and known to horse people as grandpa Smith; past director of Francis Slocum Trail Riders; shuffleboard player; loved camping and playing computer games.

John is survived by his wife: Gelenia Smith, Warsaw; two sons: John Stephen (Laura) Smith, Sandwich, Ill.; Bruce A. Smith, Warsaw; daughter: Melissa (Tom) Sorg, Kimmel; two stepdaughters: Desiree (Darcy) Whetstone, Etna Green; Ramona (Robert) Peterson, Warsaw; sister: Carol (Mike) Engle, Pierceton; brother: Charles (Diane) Smith, Claypool; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother: Walter Smith; and a sister: Wanda Smith.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, at 2000 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw. Services will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, following visitation at Titus Funeral Home, with Pastor Bob Jarboe, Kosciusko Home Care and Hospice, officiating. Betty LandisBetty B. Landis, 94, Warsaw, formally of Leesburg, passed away at 1:40 p.m. Monday, May 18, 2015, at Millers Merry Manor, Warsaw. She was born Aug. 26, 1920, to Estell and Mary (Nellens) Bryant in Akron.

On May 23, 1942 she married Arthur William “Bud” Landis who preceded her in death in April of 1997. She retired from United Telephone after many years of Service in clerical/ bookkeeping.

She is survived by her children: Gary Landis, Warsaw; Phil (Barbara) Landis, Katy, Texas; Janet (David) Bennett, Reynoldsburg, Ohio; grandchildren: Chris; Mike; David; Christie; Erin; and Jill; great-grandchildren: Taylor; Luke; Preston; Avery; and Lukas; also a sister: Jean Ellis, Millers Merry Manor, Warsaw. She was preceded in death by a brother: David Bryant.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel.

Burial will be private in Nichols Cemetery, Mentone.

Larry Brown

Larry BrownLarry Brown, 79, of Warsaw, passed away at 5:10 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2015, Indiana University Health, Goshen.

On May 26, 1935, Larry was born to Harold and Doris (Wilson) Brown in Warsaw.

Larry served in the U.S. Navy from 1954-1958 and the reserves until 1967. He volunteered as a member of the Warsaw American Legion Post #49 color guard, and worked construction for Camden Construction for many years.

Larry enjoyed model cars, drafting and Nascar Racing.

Larry is survived by his son: Ty Wayne Brown, Florida; and a daughter: Carrie (Tom) Stump, Pierceton; two grandchildren: Melissa D. Persley and John M. Stump; one great grandson: Lance C. Hunt.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Harold Brown; and one sister: Judy (Scott) Flowers.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 13, at the American Legion Circle, at Oakwood Cemetery.  Military honors will be provided by the Warsaw American Legion Post #49 and the Military Funeral Honor Guard.

The family is requesting that memorial contribution to be made to American Legion Post #49 301 N. Buffalo St., Warsaw, IN 46580. McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, is entrusted with the arrangements.

Shepherd, Columbus obit photoColumbus Shepherd of Warsaw, passed away at 1:10 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2015 at his residence at the age of 71.

He was born on August 23, 1943 in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Mortie Shepherd and Lola (Allen) Shepherd.

On June 11, 1966, he was married in Warsaw, to Janet Sue (Templeton) Shepherd, who survives in Warsaw.

He was a resident of Kosciusko County, since 1963 where he worked for 38 years for Dalton Foundries of Warsaw retiring in 2010. While at Dalton’s he worked in maintenance and tool repair. Columbus also served in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Columbus will be lovingly remembered by his son: Todd Shepherd; daughter: Lana (husband Toby) Farling; and two granddaughters: Courtney and Chelsey Farling, all of Warsaw. He also leaves behind three sisters: Irene Manns, Claypool; Madeline Hopkins, Warsaw; and Opal Arnett, Claypool; two brothers: Edgal Shepherd, Prestonsburg, Ky., and Lewis Wedstel (wife Pat) Shepherd, Claypool.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters Ruby Crothers and Vina Dotson.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.

His funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral and officiated by Chaplain Doug West. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.

Norma K. Young, 76, Warsaw, died May 31, 2015, at the Elkhart Hospice House.

She was born April 5, 1939, in Warsaw, to Alvin C. and Kathleen Holloway Wagner.

She is survived by three children: Debbie Kester; Lori Townsend; and Darrell Young, all of Warsaw; one sister: Lois Stuckman, North Webster; one brother: Mike Wagner, Elkhart; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Services will be at a later date at the American Legion Post #49, Warsaw. Private burial of ashes will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Elkhart Cremation is entrusted with arrangements.

Jessica ElmoreJessica Elmore, of Warsaw, passed away unexpectedly at 6:37 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at her residence at the age of 39.

She had lived most of her adult life in Kosciusko County, where she was a homemaker and attended Warsaw Community Church.

Jessica was born on July 17, 1975, in Indianapolis, to Leonard Leon Dewayne Ream and Claudia (Culp) Smith.

She will lovingly be remembered by her fiancé: Rudy Reyna, Warsaw; son: Jacob Elmore, Warsaw; three daughters: Corrina and Lacey Reyna, Warsaw; and Kayla Michele Hutson, Virginia Beach, Va.; father: Leonard Leon Dewayne Ream, Westfield; mother and stepfather: Claudia and Johnnie Smith, Bourbon; three brothers: Ronald E. (Jennifer) White, Bristol; Guy Jerome Smith, Bourbon; Johnny W. Smith, Arkansas, Texas; one sister: Erica Jayne Gordon, Boaz, Ala.; and her future father-in-law: Frank (Pauline) Reyna, Warsaw.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Monday, June 15, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw. Her funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Monday, June 15, officiated by Pastor Jamy Gregory. Burial will be at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Breading, DorisDoris M. Breading, 100, Warsaw, passed away at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2015, in Mason Healthcare, Warsaw.

She was born Oct. 11, 1914, in Burket, to Glen and Ethel (Davis) Hatfield. The family moved to Warsaw in 1915.

She was a 1933 graduate of Warsaw High School, where she was a GAA Honor Girl. She married Robert L. “Bob” Breading Jr. on Nov. 21, 1938, in Warsaw. She was co-owner with her husband and bookkeeper of Service Electric for 71 years.

Doris was an active member of First United Methodist Church, Delta Theta Tau Sorority, Warsaw Arts and Crafts. Her hobbies included sewing, crafts, bowling, auctions and going to garage sales.

She is survived by her son: James “Jim” (Dixie) Breading, Warsaw; Penny Breading, Warsaw; three grandchildren: James (Nikki) Breading, Plainfield; John BReading, Warsaw; and Danna Breading, Fort Myers, Fla.; and three great-grandchildren: Bianca; Lily; and Charlotte.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Robert L. “Bob” Breading, on Oct. 29, 2001; three sisters; two brothers; and one granddaughter: Dee Ann Breading.

Visitatin will be from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday, June 13, at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. The service will be held at the funeral home at noon Saturday, officiated by Pastor Jim McKibbin. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Memorials can be made to the Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County or to an organization of choice.

Robert Lee Marsh

Robert MarshRobert Lee Marsh, 82, of Warsaw, passed away at 4:45 a.m. Friday, June 5, 2015, in his residence.

On July 22, 1932, he was born in Plymouth, to Willard and Inez Marsh. He was united in marriage to Linda Ladig in Warsaw in March of 1984, who preceded him in death.

Robert was a lifetime lifetime resident of the Warsaw area. He was a custodian for Warsaw Community Schools for forty three years. He also loved Bruce Lee and cowboy movies.

He is survived by his grandaughter: Theresa Finley, Warsaw; great-grandaughter: Magdalynn Wood, Warsaw; and two stepdaughters: Tamera Cooper, Warsaw; and Marie Grubb, Was also preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be privately held.

Randall Scott ‘Randy’ Proefrock

Randy ProefrockRandall Scott “Randy” Proefrock, Logansport, passed away at 10:23 p.m. June 12, 2015, in St. Vincent’s Hospital, Indianapolis.

Born July 20, 1970, in Cody, Wyo., he was the son of Mary Kathryn “Kathy” (Frost) Panchison and the late Richard Proefrock. His mother survives.

He was married to Christina (Cook) Proefrock who preceded in death in 2001. On June 10, 2006, he was married to Annette Servies. She legally adopted his children on Oct. 31, 2013. She survives in Logansport.

A 1988 graduate of Cody High School, Randy attended Wyoming University where he played baseball – his passion. He was employed in the construction field.

Also surviving are two children: Laura Proefrock; and Richard Proefrock, both of Logansport; his mother and stepfather: Kathy (Clarence) Panchison, Wapiti, Wyo.; one sister: “Kary” Proefrock Hirschey, Warsaw; two nieces, Alicia Baxter; and Natalie Hirschey; one nephew: Trysten Baxter; aunts and uncles: Pink and Jack Way; Chris and Pat Frost, all of Cody, Wyo.; Don Proefrock, N.J.; and Bill and Bob Proefrock, all of N.Y.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Ricky.

Services will be in Cody, Wyo.; at a later day. A memorial service celebrating the life of Randy Proefrock, will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, at Fisher Funeral Chapel with celebrant Jacob Fisher officiating. Cremation has been entrusted to Fisher Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service. Calling will be 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel.

Ruth SeiffertRuth M. Seiffert, 84, Warsaw, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2015, in her residence.

She was born Jan. 20, 1931, in Claypool, to Merl Royse Engle and Blanche Irene (Harper) Engle. She was a 1949 graduate of Warsaw High School. Seiffert was married to on Jan. 20, 1971, in Warsaw. She was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County.

She worked as a finisher at Zimmer for 15 years, retiring in 1993. She was also a babysitter and avid reader. She enjoyed working word searches, and if someone truly needed a place to sleep, she would provide one.

She is survived by two sons: Robert (Jody) Engle, Warsaw; Kevin (Andrea) Engle, Warsaw; one daughter:  Teresa (Todd) Shepherd, Warsaw; one stepson: William (Connie) Seiffert, Warsaw; one stepdaughter: Jennifer Seifert, Warsaw; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two brothers: Max (Barbara) Engle, Clunette; Royse (Earline) Engle, Winona Lake; two sisters: Francis Noble, Warsaw; Nancy (John) Kleeman, Warsaw.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Eugene Seiffert, Nov. 14, 1990; stepson: Robert Seiffert; brother: Earl Engle; sister: Mearlene Kassebaum.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 18, at the funeral home. Pastor Bob Jarboe, chaplain with Kosciusko Home Care and Hospice, will officiate. Burial will be held in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Eleanor MillerEleanor Miller, 55, passed away at 1:10 p.m. Monday, June 15, 2015, at IU Medical Center, Indianapolis.

She was born on Oct. 24, in Paintsville, Ky., to George Bentley and Stella (Fitzpatrick) Bentley. She was a 1978 graduate of Warsaw Community High School. On Feb. 18, 1982, in Warsaw, she married John H. Miller.

She lived most of her life in Warsaw as a homemaker. Miller enjoyed time with her grandchildren and cooking. She also loved reading the Bible.

She is survived by a daughter: Sheila Miller, Nappanee; grandson: Jeremiah Ward, at home; granddaughter: Trinity Blanton, at home; brother: Carl Bentley, Atwood; sister: Jennifer Bentley, Warsaw; mother: Stella Bentley, Warsaw.

She was preceded in death by her husband:  John H. Miller, 1989; and her father on Dec. 26, 2003;

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw.  Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 18, at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Baughman to officiate. Burial will be held at the Hepton-Union Cemetery, Nappanee.

Willa Mae Slone

Willa Mae SloneWilla Mae Slone, 70, of Warsaw, passed away at 7:55 a.m. on June 15, 2015, in her residence.

On Jan. 24, 1945, she was born in Martin, Ky., to Ollie and Mollie (Goodman) Robinson. She was united in marriage to Lon Clay Slone on July 6, 1963, in David, Ky., who preceded her in death on Sept. 1, 2007. They were married for 44 years.

Moving to Winona Lake in 1963, and then Warsaw in 1966, Willa Mae raised two daughters: Vickie McClone, Warsaw, and Michele “Shelly” Slone, Warsaw. She worked various jobs at Korth Furniture and Sun Metal before working at the Holiday Inn as a hostess in Ginger’s Gardens. Her bright smile would be welcoming. She retired to spend time with her grandchildren; they were the light of her life and her pride and joy.

Willa Mae is survived by two daughters: Vickie McClone, Warsaw; Shelly (William) Slone, Warsaw; five grandchildren: Riley, Wesley, Landon, Wyatt and Jacob; two sisters: Lisa Castle, Langley, Ky.; Dolly Robinson, Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; four brothers: Claude Robinson, Sidney; James Robinson, Ricky Robinson and Lonnie Robinson, all of Martin; her “sisters by choice”: Opal Bates, Prestonsburg, Ky.; Wanda Ramey, Warsaw; and Janice Hall, Warsaw.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; four sisters: Annabelle Slone, Hilene Hall, Dollie Belle Robinson and Sally Ray; four brothers: Everett Robinson, Ollie Robinson Jr., Harrison Robinson and Gary Blackburn Robinson.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 18, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 19, at the funeral chapel, with Ken Locke and Pastor Henry Arnett Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Wendell A. Walls

Wendell A. WallsWendell A. Walls, 73, of Warsaw, passed away at 2:55 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2015, in Millers Merry Manor, Warsaw.

Wendell was born Dec. 17, 1941, in Warsaw to Bud and Joann (Galbreath) Walls. He was a 1959 graduate of Pierceton High School, Pierceton.

He and Loretta Conaway Spangle were joined in marriage October 3, 1975 in Warsaw. He was a lifetime Kosciusko County resident with the exception of the 11 years they wintered in Port Charlotte, Fla. Wendell worked in the maintenance department for DePuy’s for 31 and a half years retiring in 2004.

He was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. He collected antique cars, liked Allis Chalmer tractors and was a World War ll history buff.

Those left with memories to treasure are his wife: Loretta; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Roger and Carol Stump, Warsaw; nephew: Kevin (Tina) Stump, Billings, Mont.; niece: Toni Copenhaver, Twinsburg, Ohio; six great-nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will gather to share memories and words of encouragement from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, June 18, at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw.

A service to celebrate the life of Wendell A. Walls will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 19, in the funeral home with Pastor Robert Conelley of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church officiating.

Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.

The family has asked that gifts in Wendell’s memory be given to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church,Warsaw.

Terry Lee Creviston, 68, Fort Wayne, died at 6:17 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015, in his home.

He was born April 9, 1947, to Leo and Betty J. (Ross) Creviston, in Warsaw. He was a 1965 graduate of Warsaw Community High School and entered the United States Army on Sept. 26, 1966, serving during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on Sept. 25, 1969.

He is survived by his mother: Betty Creviston, Warsaw; a son: Sean (Deanna) Creviston, Goshen; two nieces: Cralissa Creviston, Fort Wayne; and Jazmyne Creviston, Goshen.

He was preceded in death by his father: Leo Creviston.

There will be a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 18, at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, officiated by Pastor William Whitaker, Warsaw Family Worship Center. Military honors will be conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126.
