Pastor Alan Mundy

Pastor Robert “Bob” Alan Mundy passed away at 5:05 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2020, at Paddock Springs Health Center in Warsaw, at the age of 86.

He was born on Aug. 28, 1934, in New Castle, to Mildred (Over) Mundy and Robert Mundy. On Feb. 7, 1959, he was married to Margaret Alene (Baumgartner) Mundy. They raised three boys and shared many great moments throughout their 61-year marriage together.

Bob was raised in New Castle, and graduated from New Castle High School in 1951. He graduated from Fort Wayne Bible College, Grace Theological Seminary in Winona Lake, and earned his Bachelor’s, Master’s and finally an honorary Doctorate of Divinity. Bob’s heart and passion was serving his Lord and Savior. He pastored at Wawasee Heights Baptist Church in Syracuse, Indiana from 1963-1972; Kossuth St. Baptist Church in Lafayette, from 1973-1982 and as a missionary for 27 years with Baptist Mid-Missions centered out of Cleveland, Ohio and retiring in 2008.

Bob and his wife were familiar faces at their residence at Grace Village Retirement Community in Winona Lake, and they were members of The Chapel Church in Fort Wayne, where he enjoyed worshiping alongside his wife Margaret for many years. He had a talent and love of playing the piano, especially playing hymns. His wife Margaret said “he could play like crazy!” Bob was a wonderful example of a faithful servant of the Lord. He will be dearly missed and forever loved by his family as they have the comfort of knowing he will be spending Christmas in Heaven.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife: Margaret Alene Mundy, Winona Lake; three sons: Ronald (Mary) Mundy, Toledo, Ohio; David (Lisa) Mundy, Decatur, Ill.; John (Sandra) Mundy, Winona Lake; ten grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind two brothers: Richard (Betsy) Mundy, New Paris; Steven (Judy) Mundy, Columbia City. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pastor Bob’s life will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 21, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by Pastors Ron and Mike Mundy. Friends and family may visit prior to the service from 9-11 a.m. A private family graveside service will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Churubusco, Indiana.

Memorial donations may be directed to Baptist Mid-Missions, P.O. Box 308011, Cleveland, Ohio 44130-8011 and would be appreciated by the family.
