Vickie D. Estep, 43, Warsaw, formerly of Nappanee, died at 5:51 p.m., Friday, March 24, 2017 at her residence. 

She was born July 26, 1973 in Elkhart to Keevin C. and Gladie (Stapleton) Estep.

Vickie was a lifetime Nappanee area resident. She graduated from  NorthWood High School and had worked at Choretime in Milford. Vickie enjoyed Football and Basketball and followed Notre Dame, IU and the Colts.

Surviving are her mother and stepfather, Gladie Arretta  (Joey) Miller, Syracuse; daughter, Skylar Arretta Lippiatt, serving in the United States Navy, based in Norfolk, Va.; sister, Jami Landry, Warsaw; and brother, Chris H. (Belinda) Losee, Elkhart.

Family and friends may call from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. There will be sharing by family and friends at 7:00 pm.  Cremation will follow and inurnment will be in Milford Cemetery at a later date.

Norma Marie Lucarelli Whitley, 81, Warsaw, died at Kosciusko Community Hospital on March 25, 2017.

She was born in Pittsburgh, Penn. on March 4, 1936 to Antonio and Emma Antonelli Lucarelli.

She was united in marriage on July 16, 1954 to Elzie W. Whitley who died Aug. 20, 2014. Norma was a faithful homemaker all her life who loved cooking, Italian food, and seeing her children and grandchildren. She was a beautiful, quiet and humble person who loved and missed her late husband, Elzie very much.

Norma is survived by three children, her son Eric (and spouse Margaret) Whitley, Warsaw; her son Jim (and spouse Pam) Whitley, Atwood; and her daughter Marcelle (and spouse Fred) Heady, Warsaw. Norma is also survived by nine grandchild: Brian Whitley, Fla.; Amy (and spouse Dennis) Kinsey, Fla.; Erica Whitley, Ky.; Melissa (and spouse Quentin) Blackford, Calif.; Joseph Whitley, Pierceton; Rachael (and spouse Jeremiah) Polk, Warsaw; Michelle (and spouse Chris) Warrix, Columbia City; Michael (and spouse Sabrina) Heady, Warsaw; and Douglas Heady, Md.; and seventeen great grandchildren, Bryce, Payton, and Madyson Kinsey, Florida; Trey, Emma, and Lucy Blackford, California; Austin and Piper Polk, Warsaw; Blake, Andrew, and Breyanna Barger, Columbia City; Brady Warrix, Columbia City; Cohen and Brody Heady, Warsaw; and Tayleona, Avary, and Brielle Heady, Warsaw. She is survived by two brothers, Ernest (and spouse Flo) Lucarelli and Antonio Lucarelli, both of Pittsburgh and was preceded in death by her loving parents and three brothers: Nicklas, Alfred, and Ralph Lucarelli, all of Pittsburgh.

Visitation hours will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, March 30 in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, March 31 at the Funeral Chapel held with Reverend Robert Brown officiating. Burial is at a later date.

Rita Ann Roberts, 52, Louisville, Ky., died at 2:17 p.m., Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Kindred Hospital, Louisville, Ky.

She was born Aug. 20, 1963, in Rochester, to James Eugene and Delores Mae (Clinger) Roberts. She was a graduate of Warsaw Community High School and spent most of her lifetime in Kosciusko County. She was a nurse at Warsaw Meadows (previously Prairie View) for many years. She loved children, was an outgoing and loving person who never knew a stranger. She loved to play Bingo and would go to many flea markets. She loved listening to country music, especially Vince Gill.

She is survived by her daughter, Martha Mae Collins, Warsaw; her sons: Shawn (Erica Marcum) Andrew Collins, Louisville; Brian Eugene Coon, Warsaw; and 11 grandchildren: Alexandra, Anthony, Gavin, Brooklyne, Kyler, Alexus, Caleb, Kaydence, Shawn Jr., Draven, Brianna; a brother, Dale E. (Judith) Roberts, Silver Lake. She was preceded in death by Cahrles “Chuck” Roberts and her parents.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m.-noon, Wednesday, March 29 at Titus Funeral Home. Service will follow with Pastor Dough Fritzel, Shively Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.

Dennis Allen Brown, 66, Claypool, died at 9:36 p.m., Sunday, March 26, 2017 in his residence.

He was born Oct. 22, 1950, in Lucky Hospital, Wolf Lake, to William Henry and Illah (McCullough) Brown. He served in the United States Army and spent most of my life in Claypool and Whitley County. He was a kind person who wasn’t afraid to help others in need. He enjoyed working on cars, go-carts and small engines-especially with his son and step-sons. He loved his children and grandchildren as well as his step-children and step-grandchildren.

He is survived by his fiancée, Merry Thomas, Claypool; his daughters: Karri Brown, Spartanburg, S.C.; Tara Boyer, Spartanburg, S.C.; his granddaughter, Madison Brown, Spartanburg, S.C.; his grandson, Chase Brown, Albion; step-daughter, Amber (Charles) See, Claypool; his step-sons: Jasper Thomas, Claypool; River Thomas, Claypool; his step-grandchildren: Zander, Averie, Alivia, Akayda; he is also survived by one brother and two sisters.

He was preceded in death by his son, Robert and his parents.

Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m., Saturday April 1 at Titus Funeral Home.

E. Mazie Alexander

E. Mazie Alexander, 98, Warsaw, passed away at 11:44 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2017 in Grace Village Healthcare Center, Winona Lake.

On Aug. 21, 1918, she was born in Kosciusko County to James A. and Cora E. (Reed) Kile. She was united in marriage to John S. Alexander on Oct. 22, 1949 in Warsaw. He preceded her in death on July 27, 2013.

A lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, Mazie worked as County Recorder for Kosciusko County for eight years.  She also traveled for the State of Indiana U.S.D.A. for school systems for eight years and eight months.

Mazie was a member of Walnut Creek United Methodist Church, Warsaw and Broadway Christian Church in Noble County, Indiana.  She also belonged to the American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126 Auxiliaries.  Mazie was President of the Republican Women’s Group of Kosciusko County and corresponding Secretary for the State of Indiana’s Recorders Association.  Mazie belonged to Moose Women’s Auxiliary, since 1971, where she would travel to aide Mooseheart children.

Mazie formed the Women’s Salvation Army Auxiliary in Kosciusko County.  In 2008, the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary held a luncheon at Rodeheaver Music Auditorium, Winona Lake, where the Salvation Army State Officer from Indianapolis presented Mazie with an award of achievement, which is the highest award that can be received for the women’s auxiliary.  On March 17, 2013, Walnut Creek United Methodist Church held Mazie Alexander Day along with Kids Peanut Butter Day for the Salvation Army. At the Inception of the Auxiliary, the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary made a video of Mazie, which they had her fill in all of the events that happened.  Mazie also received the Heart of Gold Award from the Kosciusko County Foundation 1998 – 2013.

Mazie is survived by her son, Larry (and spouse Pam) Poyser, Warsaw; two granddaughters, Kelly Lyn Babb, Syracuse and Kristin Lane Brunning, Noblesville and seven great grandchildren.  She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, John L. Kile and Glen J. Kile.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 1, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw with Ken Locke officiating and the Eulogy will be given by Bill Bufton.  Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Visitation hours will be from noon – 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 1, in the funeral chapel.

Doris Ann Cook

Doris Ann Cook, a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, passed away shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2017, in Kosciusko Community Hospital. She was 80 years old at the time of her death.

Doris was born Nov. 25, 1936 in Kosciusko County to Gus and Delpha (Mortimer) Blosser. She was one of nine children and was a 1954 graduate of Warsaw High School.

Doris was united in marriage to Arden B. Cook on Dec. 31, 1964 in Warsaw. Together the two would share more than fifty-two years of marriage.

Doris and Arden were members at First Baptist Church. Doris enjoyed canning and freezing the vegetables that they grew in their home garden.

Doris worked at Jomac for a number of years before moving to DaLite Screen. She retired in 1998 after 26 years of service.

Doris is survived by her husband, Arden, who lives in the home they built together. She is also survived by daughter, Susan Jane (Ronald) Eyster, three grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers: Edward, Leonard and Harold Blosser and five sisters: Pearl Arndt, Dorothy Scott, Virginia Huffman, Josephine Bushnill and Maxine King.

Private burial has taken place in Warsaw’s Oakwood Cemetery. Those wishing to express their sympathy may do so in the form of donation to Great Lakes Caring, whose hospice division gently cared for Doris in her final days. Josephine D. Durecki, 85, Warsaw, died at 11:10 a.m. Monday, March 27, 2017, in her Warsaw home, surrounded by her loving children.

She was born March 27, 1932, Detroit, Mich. to Frank and Martha (Pietrowski) Dolecki. She married Donald A. Durecki June 25, 1955, Detroit, Mich. They moved to Warsaw in 2004 from Warren, Mich.

She was a medical transcriptionist in Madison Heights, Mich. for many years and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw, and was a loving grandmother who enjoyed traveling when she could.

She was survived by two sons: Dr. Donald A. (Michele) Durecki Jr., Warsaw; Daniel (Lisa) Durecki, Macomb, Mich.; a daughter, Donna (Gary) Tremblay, Carmel; seven grandchildren: Gary, Scott, Nick, Marta, Kara, Brynn and Blake.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald and three brothers: George, Harry and Herbert.

A Rosary service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 8 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m. April 8 at the church. Father Phil DeVolder will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Women of Grace or Sacred Heart Haiti Fund, 125 N. Harrison St. Warsaw.

Jeannette Louise Drawbaugh of Warsaw passed away surrounded by family at 10:25 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2017 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse at the age of 78.

She was the first child of Walter August Hahn and Irene Alma (Bertram) Hahn and was born on Oct. 29, 1938 in Fort Wayne.

The Covenant of God’s Grace through Holy Baptism was bestowed upon her on Nov. 20, 1938 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne.

The Covenant of God’s Grace was affirmed by Jeannette in her confirmation on May 25, 1952 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne.  Psalm 145, verses 18 and 19 are her confirmation verse: “The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He also will hear their cry and save them.”

The Goodness of God’s Grace was given to her on Nov. 30, 1963 when she was joined in Holy Marriage to Galen Drawbaugh at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne. Their marriage was blessed with three children Naomi Joy, Timothy Galen and Faith Jeannine.

Following her husband’s ordination into the ministry of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod she and her husband served congregations in Drayton Valley and Tomahawk in Alberta, Canada; Sylvania, Ohio; Milwaukee and Mayville, Wisconsin.  They served several congregations as an Intentional Interim Pastor in Iowa, Michigan and Indiana following her husband’s retirement during which he also served as the Indiana District’s Coordinator of Intentional Interim Ministries.

The Coronation of God’s Grace was given to her on March 31 when the Lord bestowed upon her the crown of everlasting life which he promised Jeannette in her baptism when he said, “Be thou faithful unto death and I will give thee the crown of life.”

She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Galen Drawbaugh (Warsaw,); son, Timothy Drawbaugh and his wife Chikako (Tokyo, Japan); and two daughters, Naomi Beale and her husband Terry (Portland, Oregon); Faith Doyle and her husband Tony (Warsaw).  Also surviving are seven grand-children: Lindsay, Luke and Jared Beale; Joshua Drawbaugh; and Adam, Sarah and Rachel Doyle; brother, Dennis Hahn and his wife Janet (Northfield, Minnesota); and her sister, Jane Turnbow and her husband Bob (Loudon, Tennessee).

She was preceded in death by her parents, and by one grand-daughter, Christine Hope Beale in 1994.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 3 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.  There will also be an hour of calling prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. 0n Tuesday, April 4 at Redeemer Lutheran Church of Warsaw.

Her funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1720 E Center Street, Warsaw and officiated by Reverend Roger Rohde and Reverend Michael Mueller.  Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.

Memorial donations in Jeannette’s memory may be designated to St. John’s Lutheran School, 520 Bridge Street, Mayville, Wisconsin 53050; Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 3705 S. Dale E. Hudson, 78, of Warsaw, passed at 10:05 a.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Grace Village Retirement Community of Winona Lake, Indiana.

He was born on Oct. 8, 1938 in Mentone to Howard and Olive (Linn) Hudson.

He married on Nov. 20, 1967 in Columbia City to Barbara L. Price, who preceded on April 20, 2013.

He retired from R.R. Donnelley & Sons of Warsaw, Indiana after 35 years of service. He work doing photography and graphics on many catalogs.

He was a graduate of Mentone High School. Dale served his country in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed hiking, camping, biking on trails, yachting, traveling to many places.

He is survived by his daughters Stephanie and husband Bryan Kitson, Winona Lake, and Kathy and husband Feliciano Gonzales, Warsaw; 13 grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren and a brother Donald and wife Betty Hudson, Gatlinburg, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara L. Hudson; sisters Pat Gross and Norma Metheny; brothers, Kenneth Hudson and Richard Hudson.

Services will take place at a later date. Place of Remembrance is Harrison Center Cemetery, Etna Green.

Anna J. “Jean” Watkins, 61, North Webster, passed away at 8:10 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 2107 at her home.

She was born on May 14, 1955 in Warsaw to Lawrence & Bobbie (Calhoun) Elkins.

She attended Warsaw High School and was a lifetime Warsaw, Winona Lake, and North Webster area resident. On May 29, 1996 in Warsaw she married Willard “Jr.” Watkins who survives. She was employed at DePuy for 38 years in the Shipping Department.

She was a member of the Cornerstone Church in Mentone.

She is survived by her husband, two daughters: Gretchen Gatke, Chicago; Carrie (Jerry) Watkins, Canada; three sons: Shawn (fiancé Amber Dafforn) Gatke, Fort Wayne; Christopher (Christine) Watkins, Bright; and Douglas Watkins, North Webster; seven grandchildren; her mother; and two brothers: Larry (Leigh) Elkins, Warsaw; Dodge “Rich” (Kim) Elkins, Warsaw.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N St Rd 15, Warsaw, IN. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 8 at Owen Family Funeral Home, St Rd 13 & 500N, North Webster, with Pastor Rod Utter of the church officiating.

Jennifer Arlene Mishler, 48, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Mason Health Care in Warsaw after battling Multiple Sclerosis for 27 years. She was born on Dec. 9, 1968 in Bremen.

Jennifer graduated from Wawasee High School in 1987 and was an area resident for most of her life. She had also lived in Springdale, Ark. Jennifer had a great love for animals, especially dogs. That love was only surpassed by her love for Johnny Depp. She also enjoyed Winnie The Pooh, tie dye clothes, and spending time with her family.

Jennifer is survived by her father, Kent (Gloria) Mishler of North Webster; mother, Doris (John) Bowerman of Mentone; siblings, Heather (Kelly) Lackey of Warsaw; and Franklin (Jami) Mishler of North Webster; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A funeral service will be held in Jennifer’s honor at 1 p.m. Monday, April 10 at Mishler Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Milford. Pastor Jerry Winegarden will officiate. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery in Wilmot, IN.

Ted Earl Harman heard his call from Glory to come home by God, his Heavenly Father, on April 5, 2017 at 9:33 p.m.  Angels ushered Ted into the arms of Jesus – his Savior of many years.

Ted is walking on streets of gold with those who had accepted Jesus as their personal Savior.

Ted was a Korean War Veteran serving in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged from active duty on November 1, 1959 from Ft. Custer, Michigan.

Ted was a Supervisor at Little Crow Foods for 22 years before retiring in December of 1995.

He loved the outdoors, doing yard work, and eating out. He especially enjoyed custard pie, milkshakes, hamburgers, and fries.

Ted leaves behind his devoted wife of 55 years, Bonnie J. Harman, who stood by his side as his health declined. The two had been married on March 17, 1962.

Ted is also survived by a nephew Terry (Maxine) Foster of Bristol, IN; nieces Carolyn (Bob) Holbrook, & Judy Scott, both of Warsaw and Alana (Joe) Gockenhour of North Carolina.

Ted was preceded in death by two brothers: Wayne and Donnie Harman and a sister, Mary Jane Foster, in addition to a niece, Kay Bryant.

Ted was a member of Victory Christian Center Church. 

A private service is scheduled with burial at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.  Pastor Glenn Hall of Harvest Community Church, Pierceton will officiate.

Mildred May Crase, Winona Lake, died at 12:40 a.m. on Friday, April 7, 2017 at Grace Village Health Care at the age of 90.

She was born on May 31, 1926 in Prestonsburg, Ky. to Charity (Clark) Kendrick and Carl Kendrick. On Feb. 6, 1944 she was married to Edward Crase, Sr., who passed away on Sept. 23, 1993.

Mildred was a resident of Kosciusko County for the past 51 years where she was a member of God’s Highway To Heaven Church in Warsaw and a homemaker.  She loved to quilt, sew and spoil her grandchildren.

She will be lovingly remembered by her five sons: Ed (wife Ruby) Crase, Warsaw; Harry (wife Edath) Crase Silver Lake; Ken (wife Joyce) Crase, Leesburg; James (wife Becky) Crase, Warsaw; Joe (wife Pam) Crase, Warsaw; and three daughters: Ora Prater, Silver Lake; Barbara (husband James) Risner, Warsaw; Peggy Allen, Leesburg. She also leaves behind twenty-eight grandchildren, forty-three great grandchildren; three brothers: Delmar Kendrick, Prestonsburg, Ky.; Carl (wife Mary) Kendrick, Winona Lake; Harold Goble, Corbin, Ky.; and two sisters: Amy Conley, Michigan; Betty Goble, Prestonsburg, Ky.  She was preceded in death by her husband, one sister, one brother, and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, April 10,  at God’s Highway to Heaven Church, 555 W. Webber Street, Warsaw.

Her funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, April 10 2017 at God’s Highway to Heaven Church and officiated by Pastor Bob Brown.  Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.  Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.

On September 14, 1935, he was born in Warsaw, Indiana to Earl Raymond and Myrtle (Winsley) King. He was united in marriage to Avalean Stephens on April 12, 1964 in Pierceton, Indiana who preceded him in death on September 30, 2007.

A lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, Larry graduated from Pierceton High School in 1953. He served our country honorably in the United States Army from 1960 – 1964. Larry then worked for Indiana Coated Fabrics, Warsaw, retiring in 2005. He was a member of Living Hope Ministry, Warsaw and had a dedicated relationship with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He had a great love for his family and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears.

Larry is survived by his son David (Deanna) King, Warsaw; grandson, Dillon David King, Warsaw; brother, Terry (Jane) Hill, Warsaw; sister, Malveen Kelly, Warsaw; four nephews, Chad Hill, Chip Hill, Brent Roberts and Duane Roberts and a great nephew, Briar Roberts.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, son, Jimmy King, nephew, Casey Roberts and niece, Leigh Ann Roberts.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2017 in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw with Pastor Lewis Wedsel Shepherd officiating. Burial will be in South Whitley Cemetery, South Whitley, Indiana with military honors provided by the American Legion Post #49, VFW Post #1126, Warsaw and the Army Funeral Honor Guard.

Visitation hours will be from 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2017 in the funeral chapel.

Ronen Irene Elkins was stillborn in Kosciusko Community Hospital at 3:24 p.m. Friday, April 7, 2017.

Surviving are her parents Derrick and Ashley Elkins of Warsaw; three sisters: Leila, Emma and Wren at home; maternal grandparents: Brian and Shelly Cotter of Mishawaka; and Laura Cotter of Osceola; paternal grandparents: Shawn Elkins of Cass Co., Mich.; and Julie Klase of Goshen; maternal great grandparents: Larry and Wavelene Byrum of Ohio; and Lynn Cotter of Union City; paternal great grandparents: Wilbur and Carol Stockdale of Mishawaka; Larry Elkins of Elkhart; and Dan Hershberger of Indiana.

Private services are scheduled with Pastor Aaron Scantlan officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.
