Alden D. Clark

Alden D. Clark, 85, passed away at 10:56 p.m. on Oct. 26, 2019.

He was born in Clunette, Nov. 1, 1933, the son of James Sylvester and Fanny May (Warren) Clark. He was one of ten children born to the couple and was the last of his siblings. He attended school in the Mentone area and was married to Thelma Mae Smith on March 21, 1954; to their union, two sons and a daughter were born – all of whom survive.

He was an honorably discharged veteran, enlisting with the local National Guard, Company L. He earned the rank of specialist, second class and served as a cook. Professionally, he was a truck driver who owned and operated Clark’s Cartage of Warsaw for several years. He was vice president of Clark’s Marine of North Webster, a business he ran with his son, Darrell and he retired from Hoffer Trucking in Warsaw.

More personally, he liked to travel and had visited all fifty states, Mexico and Canada. Time spent in his R.V. was precious as he loved time spent with his family. In later years, he and his wife wintered in Florida. He was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church, Oswego and truly loved the Lord.

Those who survive with memories to cherish include his wife of 65 years, Thelma Clark; sons: Darrell (Bea) Clark of North Webster and Lance (Michele) Clark of Syracuse; daughter, Susan (Eric) Engelberth of Nroth Webster; seven grandchildren: Kelly Ducheteau of North Webster, Matthew (Kelli) Engelberth of Hudson, Emily (Justin) McGowen of New Paris, Cory (Whitney) Clark of North Webster, Ryan (Megan) Engelberth of Warsaw, Jake Clark of Syracuse and Sam Clark of Syracuse. Also surviving are five great-granddaughters: Kate Engelberth, Jane Engelberth, Mallory McGowen, Carly Engelberth and Alice Clark and five great-grandsons: Will Engelberth, Paul Engelberth, Gavin McGowen, Deegan Engelberth and Derrick Engelberth. Alden was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers: Lowell, Jim, Bob, Bing, and Dick; sisters: Bea, Charlotte, Barbara and an infant sister, Dorothy and by great-grandchildren: Bethany, Henry and Calvin.

Services are planned with the assistance of Titus Funeral Home and Calvary Baptist Church. Visitation will be in Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw, from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30. A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Kirk Barger, will take place at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 31, with doors open at 10 a.m. in Calvary Baptist Church, 3065 East Armstrong Road, Oswego. Burial will follow in Leesburg Cemetery.

Leslie “Les” R. Harden, 81, Warsaw, passed away at 2:44 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw. He was born on July 15, 1938 in Urbana, to Robert and Wilma (Ramey) Harden.

He was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County. He worked as a telephone communication engineer for Henkels & McCoy INC. One of his favorite hobbies included Model Railroader. He was a member of the Railway and Locomotive Historical Society, Lionel Collector Club of America, NY Central System Historical Society, and a lifetime member of the NRA.

Les is survived by daughters: Deborah Cox of Warsaw; Kim (Ben) Wagner of Warsaw; sister, Janice Crist of Silver Lake; grandchildren: Hayden Dobbins, Bayly Dobbins, Jaylyn Dobbins and Payton Dobbins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law; William “Bill” Cox on Sept. 2, 2019.

Friends may visit with the family at McHatton- Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw from 3-7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 4. Interment will be Private at Oakwood Cemetery at a later date.

Earl B. ‘Junior’ Waterson Jr.

Earl B. “Junior” Waterson Jr., 88, formerly of South Whitley, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019, at Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, where he had resided since April, 2016.

He was born June 20, 1931, in Noble County, a son of the late Earl B. and Feril Elizabeth (Spackman) Waterson, Sr. His formative years were spent in Washington Twp., Whitley County, where he attended the Washington Center School.

On Jan. 14, 1950 he was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Trautman. The couple have always made their home in Whitley County. She died Jan. 30, 2019.

A career-long truck driver, he drove for Green Acres Sod Farm for many years moving to CWC-Fort Wayne where he drove for about 15 years. A conscientious driver, he was proud of his many years of accident free driving.

Passionate about Little League Baseball, he coached for many years including the Pony League traveling teams, and church leagues. He followed and supported Purdue basketball but never missed an IU Basketball game just to jeer Purdue’s arch rival. An avid NASCAR fan, he followed his favorite driver, Mark Martin.

For 20 years, he was the Sunday School Superintendent for St. John Lutheran Church. More recently he attended Trinity Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Columbia City. After his retirement, he made wood figurines for the lawn. He found relaxation in lawn mowing and mowed for the church as well as his family and friends. Always a practical joker, it was often on display with his many hats and tee shirts.

He is survived by his children, Gail (George) Roth, South Whitley; Gary (Jia) Waterson, Lincoln, Calif.; David (Heather) Waterson, Warsaw; Julie (Mark) Frantz, South Whitley; grandchildren: Chris (Jana) Burnworth, Corey (Stephanie) Burnworth, Brock (Nici) Waterson, Brandon (Josie) Waterson, Kyle (Rachel) Frantz, Holly Frantz, David Bonito, Matt Bonito; great-grandchildren: Quinton, Noah, Grace and Rebecca Burnworth, Keaton(Emily) Anderson and Riley (Braylynn) Anderson, Caden and Mason Waterson, Hunter and Logan Bonito; and a sister, Helen Stephens, Columbia City.

Additionally, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Donald Waterson.

The funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 709 Business 30 West, Columbia City. Burial is at South Park Annex Cemetery. Visitation is 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Preferred memorials are to Trinity Presbyterian Church or Heart to Heart Hospice.

James R. Marsillett Jr.

James R. Marsillett, Jr., 45 and a resident of Warsaw, passed away unexpectedly at 9:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2019, in his home near Leesburg.

He was born in Warsaw at Murphy Medical Center on July 15th, 1974. He was the son of James R. Marsillett Sr. and Mary A. (Bean) Marsillett. He was a 1993 graduate of Triton High School and went on to work at both Biomet and Zimmer. He was currently the plant manager of J & B Pallet Company of Warsaw where he worked alongside his family.

Family was very important to Mr. Marsillett; he was friendly to anyone he met but family held a special place in his life. He was kindhearted and outgoing, rarely knowing a stranger. He was also fiercely loyal and had a remarkable sense of humor. He was a diehard Colts Football fan and enjoyed winding down with Xbox games. He liked to try his luck at Blue Chip along with playing bingo every Thursday at the North Webster American Legion Post #253. As family was everything to him, a friendly game of cards with his family meant so much more – a Sunday ritual which he cherished.

Those left brokenhearted by his passing include his fiancée, Ashley Deeds of Warsaw; son, Jacob White of Peru; daughters, Kayla (Jacob Ervin) Marsillett of North Webster and Felicia (Guy Marlatt) Marsillett of South Whitley; son, Michael Marsillett of Pierceton; three grandchildren: Addyson, Mason and Bennett – all at home with their parents; step-daughter: Caytlin Garman of North Webster; step-sons: Kaydin Manges and Izack Manges – both at home; parents: James Marsillett, Sr. and Mary A. Marsillett of Warsaw; brother, Terry J. (Danielle) Marsillett of Warsaw and sister, Christy (Scott Huffer) Scott of Syracuse. He was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents.

Services have been planned with Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan Street, Warsaw where visitation will take place on Sunday, Nov. 3, noon until 4 p.m. On Monday at 11 a.m., Dr. Ron Manahan will officiate James Marsillett’s service with burial following in Warsaw’s Oakwood Cemetery.

Frances J. Besson, 95, Warsaw, passed at 9:55 a.m., Friday, Nov. 1, 2019, at Kosciusko Community Hospital of Warsaw. She was born on Aug. 20, 1924, in Kosciusko County, Indiana to Clyde and Elsie (Douglas) Nettrouer. She married on Oct. 30, 1944, in Fort Wayne, Indiana to John L. Besson, who preceded on May 12, 1995.

She was a homemaker and a farmer’s wife. She had also worked in the Kosciusko County Recorder’s Office for eight years and for Bodkin Abstract Office for eight years.

She was a 1942 graduate of Mentone High School. She was a member of the former Warsaw Wesleyan Church since 1985 where she had been a part-time greeter for 20 years. She always enjoyed mowing and taking special care of her yard.

She is survived by her sons: Larry (Jackie) Besson, Ocala, Fla.; Lyle Besson, Granger; grandchildren: Terry, Bryan and Kristina; great-grandchildren: Carter, Keegan and Alicia; three great-grandchildren; sister, Lillian Meredith, Plymouth.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Elsie Nettrouer; her husband, John Besson; sisters: Beulah Anderson and Shirley Church.

The funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 6, at King Memorial Home 101 North Tucker Street Mentone, Indiana with Pastor Wanda Carter officiating.

The burial will take place in the Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Visitation hours will be from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 5, at King Memorial Home, Mentone.

Brandon Lee Blanton

Brandon Lee Blanton, 44 and a resident of Packerton, lost his life as the result of a house fire on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019, at 12:45 a.m.

He was born on Nov. 2, 1974, in Warsaw. He was the son of Gene and Sue (Hopkins) Blanton and one of six Blanton children. He grew up in Kosciusko County and attended school in Warsaw. On July 11, 2014, he was married to Angela Ousley who survives.

He was previously employed by Midwest Rake and was a lover of music. He played guitar and drums and fiercely loved his children and family. He was a private person with a strong independent streak who will be dearly missed.

A list of those who survive include his wife, Angela Blanton of Packerton; three sons: Draven Blanton, Gaven Blanton and Evan Blanton of Packerton; step-daughter: Makaila Ousley of Claypool; parents: Gene and Sue Blanton of Packerton; two sisters, Tammie (Jack) Rich of Claypool and Candi Kayler of Warsaw; three brothers: Roger (Lesa) Blanton of Mentone, Dan Blanton of Warsaw and Ron (Carla) Blanton of Pierceton and his in-laws, Troy and Janet Ousley of Claypool. Both sets of grandparents preceded him in passing.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date. Brandon’s arrangements were entrusted to Titus Funeral Home of Warsaw.

Don E. Thallemer

Don E. Thallemer, 90, Warsaw, passed away at 1:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 4, 2019, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw. 

He was born Sept. 4, 1929, in Mishawaka, to William A. and Johanna M. (Vanderbosch)Thallemer. He was married to Beverly Ann Clements at St. Anthony Catholic Church in South Bend, Feb. 2, 1952. They celebrate 67 plus years of marriage.

He graduated from Central Catholic High School, South Bend and Indiana University, earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He attended graduate school at Notre Dame University. he served in the United States Army as a military policeman in Korea. Later, he served as a Special Agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. His business career also included employment at Bell Intercontinental Corp., Associates Investment Company, and Site Oil Company. 

He was the owner of the Warsaw Funeral Supplies. After his retirement, he was a volunteer at the Sacred Heart Church, Warsaw and Our Father’s House. He was a member of Knights of Columbus.

Surviving Don Thallemer are his spouse, Beverly Ann Thallemer, son: Joseph (Jill) Thallemer, daughters: Karen Furbee, Janice (Todd) Martin, Sue (Bill) Hanson; grandchildren: Cari Nolin, Kati Reed, Josh Saylors, Jaci Thallemer, Michael Thallemer, Tracy Warrender, Brian Thallemer, Stephanie Shepherd, Nick Martin, Mallory Trouw, Christopher Hanson and Emily Hanson in addition to 17 great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon, Wednesday, Nov. 6, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw with Father Jonathan Norton officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-noon prior to the service at the Church on Wednesday.  Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw with military honors by Post #49 and VFW 1126.

In Lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart School 125 N. Harrison St. Warsaw, IN 46580

James A. Endress

James A. Endress, 73, Warsaw, passed away at 5:20 a.m. on Nov. 4, 2019, at Mason Health Care, Warsaw. Born on Nov. 19, 1945, in Wabash County. He was the son of Charles and Martha (Lawrence) Endress.

After graduating with an Associates Degree, he started working maintenance for Kosciusko Community Hospital when it first opened and also worked maintenance at the Bowen Center in 1988 until he retired in 2005. Additionally, James was taught by his father the trade of being a gunsmith. For thirty years he worked on different firearms for people.

On Oct. 2, 1976, James Endress married the love of his life, Vicki L. Davis. The two were wed for nearly forty-two years before she passed away on Aug. 20, 2018. During their time together, he was a gentle soul who was thoughtful and kind, not only to her but also to her sons who became his sons as well. His positive nature was infectious to those around him. Simply put, he brought out the best in everyone.

He was a person who could have a conversation with anyone he met. He had a deep understanding and knowledge about him, but he was sincere and gracious to all, especially to his children and grandchildren. For fun, he relished in his time capturing the world through his camera. On Sundays the Endresses would attend Eel River Community Church of the Brethren, where they were both members until their health declined and they were unable to attend.

James Endress’ love and kindness will be forever remembered by his sons, Tom (Janet) White, Warsaw; Scott (Bonnie) White, Elkhart; Richard (Carolyn) White, Kendallville; and Jamie (Michele) White, Syracuse; brothers, Thomas (Nancy) Endress, Bridgewater, Va.; and Richard (Sharon) Endress, Loganville, Ga.; nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Vicki Endress.

Family and friends may call from noon-1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 7, at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester. A memorial service will begin following the conclusion of calling. Pastor Denny Bollenbacher will officiate. Burial will be at Ulrey Memorial Cemetery, 2507 State Road 14, Silver Lake, IN 46982 at a later date.

Roger Dale Frush, 88, Warsaw, passed away at 1:31 p.m., Monday, Nov. 4, 2019, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw. He was born Dec. 1, 1930, in Kosciusko County to William Clifford and Margurite (Hughes) Frush, Sr.

He was a lifetime resident of Warsaw. He graduated from Warsaw High School and continued on to receive a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Purdue University. He worked as a Laboratory Chemist for Purdue University.

Roger Frush is survived by nephew, Jerry (Julia) Frush of Warsaw; nieces, Karel (Dennis) Mulcahy of Pearland, Texas; Rebecca (Charles) Talkie of Springboro, Ohio; and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by siblings; William Clifford, Jr, Donald and Doris Aygran.

His graveside funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, at in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Pastor David Kyle will be officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw is entrusted with arrangements.

Terie J. Holloway, 62, Warsaw, and formerly of rural Rochester, passed at 10 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019, at her residence.

She was born on Sept. 1, 1957, in Rochester. She married on June 28, 2012, in Rochester, to Richard K. Holloway, who preceded on May 26, 2017.

She had worked for over 20 years at R.R. Donnelley of Warsaw. She was a graduate of Triton High School. She had been a member of the Athens Community Church where she operated the food pantry. She enjoyed crafts, making pillows, blankets, and t-shirts, and playing bingo. She was fond of her many trips to the casinos. Most of all she loved to work on the farm with her father and spend time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters: Katina Davis, Peru; Lisa Hernandez, Tippecanoe; Amanada (Chris) Clabaugh, Piereceton; Jessica Davis (fiancé Michael Crum), Inwood; grandchildren: Scott, Ashley, Amber, Alexis and Kinsley; great-granddaughter, Nicole; step-son: Richard L. (Lorna) Holloway, Rochester; four sisters and a brother.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

The funeral service will take place at 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 8, at King Memorial Home 101 North Tucker Street Mentone, with Pastor Luke Vasicek officiating.

The burial will take place in the Sycamore Cemetery, Mentone.

Visitation hours will be from noon-2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 8, 2019 at King Memorial Home, Mentone.

June A. Askins, 89, formerly of Plymouth, passed away at 4:15 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 4, 2019, with her family near at Mason Health Care Center in Warsaw.

Born on Oct. 15, 1930, in Kansas City, Mo., she was the adopted daughter of Fannie Davis Wiesjohn and Albert “Bunk” Wiesjohn. She graduated from Plymouth High School with the class of 1948. She also attended Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago.

In Atwood, on Jan. 2, 1949, she would marry Raymond M. Askins Jr. To this union came four children: Robin, Cynthia, Kent and Dawn. Beginning in 1971, the Askins’ would live on a farm in Bourbon that became their sanctuary of peace. She worked for L&R Products in Bourbon as secretary and vice president.

In 1991, they would move to Plymouth. A strong woman who knew how to make her family’s dreams come true, June became heavily involved in her community. She volunteered at the Marshall County Historical Museum. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a former member and officer of the Bourbon Progress Club. She served on the Bourbon Campfire Girls Board as a Group Leader and was a member of the Wythougan Valley Preservation Society. She served with the Marshall County Red Cross for 30 years with the Blood Program and served three years on the board of the Blueberry Festival.

A good woman who knew God, they were members of the Plymouth First United Church of Christ. There she has been a choir director and a Sunday school teacher.

After Ray’s passing on Oct. 30, 2015, she would move to Warsaw to be closer to her son Rob, and make many new friends.

She is survived by her children: Robin L. (Diana) Askins of Warsaw; Kent R. (Ginger) of Phoenix, Ariz.; and Dawn E. (Don) Crowder of Warsaw; son-in-law Steve Keller of Scottsdale, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her half-brother, Roman Kuckie Jr. of Chicago.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ray, daughter Cynthia Keller, her mother Fannie Davis Wiesjohn, beloved father and step-mother, Albert and Elizabeth Wiesjohn, step-grandson, Brad, and step-sister Mary Hammer.

Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 16, in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth. Funeral Services immediately follow in the funeral home at 11 a.m. with Rev. Charles Krieg officiating.

She will be laid to rest next to Ray in the New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.

Hugh E. Ressler, 93, Warsaw, passed away at 7:55 p.m.,  Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw.

He was born on May 16, 1926, in Hobbs, to Percy and Cleo (Warren) Ressler. He was married to Catherine Carruthers on July 23, 1950 in Rochester.

He has been a resident of Warsaw since 1969. Hugh attended Ball State University from 1946 –1950 receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Education where he continued on to receive his Master’s Degree in Education. He was a business and typing teacher from 1951 to 1987 teaching at Warsaw Schools, Rochester, Richland Center, Fulton schools and Mendon High School where he also enjoyed being a coach. He was a very kind man and known to be supportive of all his students. He proudly served his country in the US Army in Occupation Forces in WWII serving in the Counter Intelligence Corps from 1946 to 1947 and again from 1950 to 1951 in the Korean Conflict and was discharged as a Sergeant (T).

Hugh Ressler was a member of 1st United Methodist Church, Warsaw and a member of Warsaw Lions Club. He was very active in sports, participating in church softball, and in the Senior Olympics Basketball until 2012 in Houston, Texas. He participated every two years since 1993 for the Florida Magic and played softball in the Florida Senior Softball League. He was inducted in the Ball State Football Hall of Fame Class 2011-2012.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Catherine of Warsaw; sons, David (Becky) Ressler of Houston, Texas; Terry Ressler of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Katie, Sarah, Amanda, Leigh Ann, William; in addition to three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by daughter, Nancy Brown in 2012; six sisters, and one brother.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. His funeral service will take place at 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 14, with Pastor Brian Smith officiating at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw with military honors by the American Legion Post#49 and VFW Post # 1126.

Peggy A. Foreman, a lifetime resident of Warsaw, passed away unexpectedly at 4:01 a.m., Friday, Nov. 8, 2019, in Kosciusko Community Hospital. She was 65 years old having just celebrated her birthday on Oct. 26.

Born in 1954 to Marcus E. and Gloria J. (Leedy) Bigelow, she was a graduate of Warsaw High School and worked for many years at Cardinal Services. She also worked as a caregiver in home health before spending more than twenty-five years with Walmart. She was part of the original opening crew of the east side Walmart store and spent time in customer service, receiving and the cash office. She retired from the jewelry department in 2012.

She was known for her ornery sense of humor and her love for practical jokes. She rarely knew a stranger and loved animals. She enjoyed television shows like American Pickers, anything about true crime and medical shows. She also enjoyed finding a bargain at garage sales and at Goodwill. She was a word puzzler, a devoted mother and a loving grandmother who will be missed by many.

A short list of those who will miss her includes two daughters: Melinda Foreman of Warsaw; and Mary Foreman (Nicholas Heinold) of South Whitley; three grandchildren: Carter Jacob Huntley of Churubusco; Madison Leigh Huntley of Churubusco; and Ryan Aaron Heinold of South Whitley; two nephews: Charles Anthony Seitner of Silver Lake; and Mark Andrew Seitner of Warsaw; and a niece, Melissa Ann Seitner of Warsaw.

She was preceded in passing by her parents, sister, Nancy Seitner and nephew, David Matthew Seitner.

A Life Celebration® is planned with Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street in Warsaw. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 12. Beginning at 6 p.m., Pastor Bob Brown of God’s Highway to Heaven Church will officiate a funeral at Titus.
