Regina Ann Lancaster, 83, Warsaw, was ushered into the presence of her loving Lord and Savior Jesus at 1:40 a.m. on Sunday, June 30, 2019.  She passed away at Grace Village Health Care in Winona Lake.

She was born on Feb. 4, 1936, in Piedmont, West Virginia to Gerald Boynton Derham and Mildred Augustine (DeShong) Derham of Mill Run, near Westernport, Md.  On Nov. 29, 1963, she was married to John William Lancaster.

She grew up in Maryland and was a 1954 graduate of Valley High School in Lonaconing, Md. In 1954 she attended Catherman’s Business School in Cumberland, Maryland. She attained a secretarial position in 1955 at Frostburg State Teachers College (now Frostburg State University) in Frostburg, Md.

She worked at the school at different intervals during her career and retired from Frostburg State University on Jan. 1, 2003, as an Executive Administrative Assistant.

She was actively involved in Christian ministry at a very young age. She began playing the piano in church with one hand while taking piano lessons. Since 1970 she had lovingly and faithfully played a vital role serving alongside her husband as a pastor’s wife at the following Grace Brethren Churches: Mill Run, Maryland; Accident, Maryland; Ozark, Michigan; Jenners, Pennsylvania; and Parkersburg, West Virginia.

She served the churches by typing bulletins, playing the piano and organ, organizing vocal and instrumental groups for District Competitions, coaching Quiz Teams, leading various youth groups, and teaching Sunday School.  She and her husband moved to Warsaw in 2008 and most recently attended Grace Chapel at Grace Village Retirement Community in Winona Lake.  Regina was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She would most want to be remembered for her steadfast faith and love for her Lord, Jesus Christ.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 55 years, John William Lancaster, Warsaw; daughter:  Cheryl (Larry) Lawlor, Fishers; and three sons: Kevin (Dena) Lancaster Warsaw; Keith (Amy) Lancaster, Peru; and Jeffrey (Nicole) Lancaster, Warsaw, Indiana).  Also surviving are eight grandchildren: Amanda and Lindsay Lawlor; Kendra, Mya, Liam, Dallas, Tommy, and Max Lancaster; two sisters:  Faye Long, Wellersburg, Penn.; and Donna (John) Juday, Osceola.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother G. Kenneth Derham, and her sister Retha Duckworth.

Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m., Friday, July 5, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.

Regina’s life will be celebrated with a funeral service that will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by Pastor David Jodry.  Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.

Memorial donations may be directed to Riley Hospital for Children at I.U. Health, 705 Riley Hospital Drive, Indianapolis, Indiana  46202 and would be appreciated by the family.

Kim M. Boggs, 63, rural Warsaw and Mentone, passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones at 4:20 a.m., Monday, July 1, 2019, at Peabody Retirement Community of North Manchester.

He was born on March 30, 1956, in Warsaw to Harry Dale and Joyce (Taylor) Boggs.

He married on Feb. 28, 2019, in Fort Wayne to Anna Hagedorn Stiles, she survives.

He was a lifetime carpenter retiring in 2012 and then spent 6 years working for R.R. Donnelley.

He was a graduate of Warsaw High School in 1974. He enjoyed Thursday Night Men’s Golf League at Raccoon Run for over 30 years, bowling, throwing Frisbees, and reading Science Fiction. He made multiple canoe trips to Canada with the Tom Maze/St. Anne’s Episcopal Church. He was a life long Yankees fan. Kim was commonly known by his close friends as “Boggsie” or “Dos”. His favorite place to visit in the world was Jamaica. He was known for building and making many things which included building his whole family’s homes. He spent his years working at what he wanted to do every day.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Boggs, Mentone; step-daughters: Autumn Jacobs (partner Sok Dunmyre) Tacoma, Wash.; Brooke (Nick) Huffman, Silver Lake; Caylee (Shane) Kline, Galveston; granddaughter: Brynne Nicole Huffman; mother: Joyce Boggs, Warsaw; twin brother: Kevin (Faith) Boggs, Warsaw; sister: Pam (Bill) Kolter, Claypool; nieces and nephews: Brandon and wife Kelli Hepler, Nate and wife Karie Hepler, Jessica Lynn Boggs and husband Michael Davies, Loren Nicole Boggs and partner Zachary Harper, Phillip Michael Boggs and partner Holly Perkins; great nieces and nephews: Kendall, Kale, and Eli Hepler, Isabella and Finn Davies, Sebastian Boggs.

He was preceded in death by his father: Harry Dale ‘Jim” Boggs; father-in-law: David Hagedorn; his best dog, Max.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 am, Saturday, July 6, at King Memorial Home 101 North Tucker Street Mentone, Indiana with Rev. Jason Rice officiating. His interment will take place in the Mentone Cemetery, Mentone, Indiana.

Visitation hours will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, July 5, at King Memorial Home, Mentone, Indiana.

Donation can be made in his memory to the Scleroderma Foundation.

Mildred Hope Sanders

Mildred Hope Sanders, 95, Warsaw, passed away quietly at 10:15 p.m., Tuesday, July 2, 2019, in her home.

Born Mildred Hope Carbiener in North Liberty on Dec. 26, 1923, she was the daughter of Raymond L. and Lalia E. (Reed) Carbiener. She was a graduate of North Liberty High School and went on to pursue training as a nurse. She graduated from Epworth Memorial Hospital’s School of Nursing, South Bend in 1945.

The following year, she was united in marriage to Eugene H. Sanders. The two made there home in North Liberty and Lakeville for many years, living in South Bend for some time and in Austin, Texas, too. They retired to Warsaw in 1991. He preceded Mildred in passing on Oct. 19, 2006; their three children survive.

As a nurse, she was naturally a giving, caring person. She could be quiet and enjoyed time spent reading and crocheting. She was previously a member of Community Grace Brethren Church, was strong in her faith and had an earnest love for the word of the Lord.

Those who survive with memories to cherish include daughter, Janet (Darrell) Johnson of Warsaw; sons, Kent (Sharry) Sanders of Austin, Texas and Greg (Sharon) Sanders of Birmingham, Ala.; five grandsons: Darryl Sanders of Austin, Brad Sanders of Columbia, Mo.; Aaron and Ryan Sanders of Birmingham and Scott Johnson of Carmel; granddaughter, Jennifer Mueller of Katy, TX; five great-grandsons: Jordan Sanders of Austin, Brody and Ethan Sanders of Katy and Parker and Tommy Sanders of Birmingham; four great-granddaughters: Shelby and Lauren Sanders of Austin, Alexis and Whitney Sanders of Birmingham and brother, Ray Carbiener of South Bend. In addition to her husband, those who preceded Mildred in passing include her brother, Gene Carbiener and sister, Eldonna Donathan.

Private services are planned. Mildred will be buried in Fair Cemetery, North Liberty alongside her husband. Titus Funeral Home of Warsaw assisted the family.

Reita M. Fuson

Reita M. Fuson, 88, Warsaw, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. She was born in South Bend on May 22, 1931, to Phillip Ernest and Ethel V. (Moore) Williams. She was married to John Cecil Fuson, Sr. on July 4, 1954; he preceded her in death on March 24, 1975.

Just a month after her birthday, this remarkable lady received her promotion from abundant life to eternal life. She was a lifelong member of Pathway Church, formerly Warsaw Wesleyan Church. She was an avid bowler and a beloved Warsaw Community High School lunch lady. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening and playing video games. Some of her favorite refreshments were a Mountain Dew and Hershey’s chocolate. She was a sweet, feisty, strong, brave and giving lady who loved her family fiercely. She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.

Those left to cherish Reita’s memories are six children, Brad (Barb) Snyder of Virginia; Brenda (Lonny) Irvine of Warsaw; Michael (Elenor) Fuson of Las Vegas; Marsha (Roy) Estep of Warsaw; Jill (John) Sanders of Warsaw; Joye Hochstedler (P.J. Weisser); 16 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Lois Ann Warren of Silver Lake.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband J. Cecil Fuson, Sr., son John C. Fuson, Jr., grandson Michael D. Fuson and one brother and one sister.

A celebration of Reita’s life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 6, at Pathway Church, 2402 Old Rd 30, Warsaw, IN 46580, Pastor Anthony Cottrell will officiate her service. Burial will follow immediately at Oakwood Cemetery.

Friends and family will be received from 10 a.m., until the service at 1 p.m. at the church on Saturday.

Memorial donations in Reita Fuson’s honor may be given to David and Dena Scott.

Thomas E. Buchan

Thomas (Tom) Edward Buchan, 84, Warsaw, passed on June 22, 2019, in Mason Health Care. Mr. Buchan was born Aug. 20, 1934, in the family farmhouse in Rome City, of Ralph and Mary Buchan (Waltenburg). 

He joined the Army in 1953 and became a Chief Radio Operator managing 28 men in his unit in Germany.  He had many jobs over his lifetime from being a butter boy on a dairy route to driving trucks delivering all over the US.  He had successful businesses in his lifetime, Buchan TV Repair, Orlando, Fla., Tiger Wrecker Service and Buchan Electric, in Warsaw from which he retired in 1996.  He lived a full life with his many hobbies and affiliations. He was a member of the Warsaw Masonic Lodge #73, a member of the Fort Wayne Valley Scottish Rite, Mizpah Shrine of Kosciusko County Shrine Club and Shriners Mini- Bike Patrol, a member of ARRL, Hoosier Lakes Amateur Radio Club, American Legion and NRA.

He was an avid Ham Radio operator (N9AL) working with Salvation Army, American Legion, National Weather Service, among several others, helping with natural disasters all over the world. He enjoyed playing piano, building and programming computers, repairing antique toys, building R/C planes, boats, and helicopters, enjoying and watching his grandchildren play sports and going to dance recitals. 

He is survived by his brothers, Robert James “Jim” (Jeanie) Buchan, New Haven; Jerry (Audrey) Buchan, and Bert “Butch” (Cecilia) Buchan, Fort Wayne. Surviving are his children, David Buchan, Warsaw, Deborah (Andrew) O’Connell, Mentone, Denise (Bill) Keller, Winona Lake, Ryan Buchan, Warsaw, and JoAnn Buchan, Warsaw; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m., Monday, July 15, in the Warsaw Masonic Lodge, Warsaw, IN. Military Honors to Follow by the American Legion Post #49 & V.F.W. Post 1126.  Arrangements are entrusted to McHatton- Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.

Charles David Hall, 54, passed away at 9:20 p.m., July 4, 2019.  He was born on Nov. 7, 1964, to Maynard Jr. and Carolyn (Sparkman) Hall in Martin, Ky. He was united in marriage to Tamela (Wellman) Hall.

He was a graduate of Warsaw Community School. He was a cook for the 20th Century Restaurant in Milford and was employed with several other restaurants including Wolfgangs and Ruby Tuesdays as a General Manager. He served as a Private in the National Guard Army.

He is survived by a daughter: Cassandra “Casey” Quella of Indianapolis; sons: Zachary Hall and Jacob Hall both of Warsaw; siblings: Althea Mullarky of Walden, N.Y.; Angela Hall, Lisa Hall and Nathaniel Hall all of Warsaw. He was preceded in death by his wife Tamela Hall.

Visitation will be from 10-noon, Thursday, July 11, in McHatton- Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw with a funeral service following immediately at noon in the Chapel with Tom Roy officiating. Interment will be Private.

Frances Ervin

Frances M. Ervin, 93, Warsaw, passed at 6:59 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at Miller’s Merry Manor of Warsaw.

She was born on May 2, 1926 in Akron, to Gordon and Edith (Vandermark) Young.

She married in February 1946 in South Bend, to Orvil J. Ervin. He preceded her in April of 1953.

Frances was a homemaker as well as working for Monsanto Company in Ligonier, retiring after 22 years.

She attended Harrison Center Church as well as Cook’s Chapel. In years past she had been a member of the American Legion of Ligonier. She sang for many years in the Melloaire Singing Group, traveling and singing at many nursing homes. She enjoyed crocheting and making many scrubbies.

Survivors include a daughter, Ruthie and husband Terry Rookstool,  Warsaw; sons,Tom and wife Barb Ervin, Ligonier; and
Donald and wife Regina Ervin, Warsaw; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orvil Ervin; a son, Larry Ervin, two brothers, Everett and Charles Young; four sisters, Opal Epler, Doris Ann Young, Mary A. Pike and Margaret Yeater; and grandchildren, Steven Phillip Rookstool, Teresa Martin and Morningstar Osborn.

Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 8, 2019, at King Memorial Home 101 North Tucker St., Mentone. Pastor Aaron Talbert will officiate. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Visitation hours are from  2 to 5 p.m., Sunday, July 7, 2019, at King Memorial Home, Mentone.

Jerry McCartney

Jerry H. McCartney, 87, Warsaw, passed away at 2:50 p.m. July 5, 2019, in Peabody Retirement Community in North Manchester.

He was born April, 3, 1932, to Ray and Elma McCartney. On March 19, 1953, he was united in marriage in Warsaw to Margie Latta, who preceded him on Dec. 31, 2017.

A lifelong Warsaw resident, he worked for Kroger-Owens Grocery Store for over 50 years. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy where he was 3rd Class Metal Smith aboard the U.S.S. Perry Destroyer Tender during the Korean Conflict.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Warsaw, Warsaw Masonic Lodge #73, Fort Wayne Valley of the Scottish Rite, Mizpah Shrine and the American Legion Post #49. On March 10, 2015, he was honored as the Kosciusko County Veteran of the Month. He was the first recipient of the Fisher Award, serving as the captain of his football team.

He is survived by his son; Jay (and spouse Renae) McCartney, Warsaw. He is further survived by his grandchildren; Heather Davis, Pam Davis, Samantha McGinnis, Christie (and spouse Zeb) Dotson McCartney, Kerra McCartney, Chris Warren and Jeremy McCartney along with eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded by his wife Margie and daughter Marcia Davis McCartney.

A visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m.  Tuesday July 9, 2019, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel in Warsaw. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m.  Wednesday July 10, 2019, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel with Pastor Brian Smith officiating. Burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery, with military honors by the American Legion Post 49 and the VFW Post 1126.

 

 

Dolores Marie Hatfield

Dolores Marie Hatfield, a resident of Warsaw, passed away at 4:55 p.m., Wednesday, July 3, 2019, while surrounded with love and her family. She was 77 years old and passed at home.

She was born in Brownsville, Texas and was the daughter of Antonio and Margarita Jimenez. She was one of ten children and would go on to have a large family herself. Family meant everything to Dolores and there was nothing that she loved more than time spent together with her family. Everyone considered Dolores to be their mom or grandma even if they weren’t related. She was kind, caring and a true joy to be around. This earned her the nickname “Mama D.”

She was previously self-employed as a housekeeper and had worked for Ramada Inn in Warsaw for many years. She was a member of the Moose, American Legion and VFW auxiliaries, and had recently been attending events at the Kosciusko County Senior Center which she enjoyed. She was known for passing time on the front porch of her home where anyone could sit down for a visit. She was also known for gifting $2 bills and many of her loved ones carry those bills in her memory.

On June 2, 2008, she was united in marriage to Jose Melendrez of Warsaw; he survives. Also surviving in Warsaw are daughter, Norma (Richard) Monk, sons: Ronnie Baldridge, Andrew Baldridge, Willie (Angie) Baldridge and Carlos Stinfer; 21 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Additional survivors include her stepdaughter, Cecilia Melendrez of Ligonier; stepson, Cesar Melendrez of Ligonier; brothers, Antonio Jimenez, Jr. and Mando Jimenez – both of Kendallville; and five sisters: Maria Jimenez of Kendallville, Minerva Baldridge of Claypool, Patty Terry of Kendallville, Brenda Smith of Kendallville, and Deedee Nartker of Kendallville. She was preceded in passing by her parents; sister, Olga Hernandez; brother, Larry Jimenez; one grandson and one great-grandson.

Friends may join family for a time of visitation from 2-4 p.m., and 6-8 p.m., Monday, July 8, at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw. Mr. Rick Bradley of Water of Life Church will officiate a funeral on Tuesday at 10 a.m.in the funeral home with burial to follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

Priscilla Waidley

Priscilla Waidley, 78, of Warsaw, passed away at 8:18 p.m., Monday, July 1, 2019, in AMG Specialty Hospital, Muncie. She was born on April 22, 1941, to Ervin and Kathryn (Swalley) Waidley in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Priscilla was an inspector for the egg and poultry agricultural industry. She was a devoted member of the First United Methodist of Warsaw. Her friends and family describe her as a very compassionate and giving person.

She is survived by her brother; Jerry W. Waidley of Safety Harbor, Fla., one nephew; Gordan Morlan, of Madison, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by both parents and one sister.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, July 11, in the First United Methodist Church, Warsaw with Pastor Brian Smith officiating.

Shawn Webb, 49, Warsaw, passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 7, 2019, at his residence. He was born March 19, 1970, in San Bernardino, CA to Allen and Debra (Brown) Webb. On February 2, 1998, he married Dawn Brown, who survives.

He enjoyed being outside no matter if it was hunting, fishing, gardening, riding his four-wheeler or just watching birds. He enjoyed classic rock music, collecting Indian knick-knacks and memorabilia and watching Western movies. He liked hanging out with his friends and loved spending time with family.

Shawn Webb is survived by his wife of 22 years, Dawn; four children: Shiane (Josh) Conley of Claypool; Shawnitta Webb and Dakota Webb, both of Warsaw; Natasha Brunner of Syracuse; and two grandchildren, Brayden and Braelyn Brunner. Also surviving are his parents Allen and Debra, one sister Alicia Webb and a brother Michael Webb.

Friends and family will be received from 3-7 p.m., Thursday, June 13, at Mishler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 461 W 900 N, Milford, IN 46542. Cremation will follow.

Rosemary Elizabeth Carney

Rosemary Elizabeth Carney, 91, rural Columbia City, died at 7:54 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2019, at Parkview Randallia, Fort Wayne, where she had been for the last week.

She was born March 9, 1928, in Columbia City, a daughter of the late James and Lulu (Anderson) Egner. She was born and raised in Columbia City where she attended West Ward School and Columbia Township School.

On Aug. 23, 1952, she was united in marriage to Ralph E. Carney. They always made their home in Whitley County.

A long-term employee of Fox Products, South Whitley as a seamstress, she had over 54 years of service.

She played the organ for several area churches including Thorncreek Bethel Church, Markle Free Will Baptist, and Huntington Gospel Community Church. Rosemary enjoyed crocheting, watching game shows, and was a competitive and accomplished poker player.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Ralph; daughter, Linda D. (Raymond) Carney-Benoit of Fort Myers, Fla.; son, Jackie E. (LaDawna) Carney of Columbia City; a grandson, Ian Christopher (Dinah) Carney of Peyton, Colo.; three great-grandchildren; brother, Keith Egner of Oregon; a sister, Glenda (Jerry) Egner Millington of Warsaw; and a niece, Pamula S. Carney Hunt of Gas City.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Forrest Egner, Imogene Egner Nelson, twin brothers, Harold and Gerald Egner, and grandson, Travis Benoit.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Stough Cemetery (Columbia City). Family and friends will gather at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City to process to the cemetery.

Preferred memorials are to Parkview Hospice.

Valis G. Owens, 80, Warsaw, passed away at 10:02 a.m., Monday, July 8, 2019, in his residence. He was born on July 3, 1939, to Butler and Annie (Whitaker) Owens in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. He was united in marriage on July 27, 1956, to Janice (Holbrook) Owens in Warsaw.

Mr. Owens was a graduate of Silver Lake High School. He has been retired for 15 years in which he was a production worker formerly employed with Huffer Foundry, Bourbon Foundry and Spartech Plastics in Warsaw.

Valis Owens is survived by his wife: Janice (Holbrook) Owens; children: David (Judy) Owens of Dayton, Ohio; Rick (Karen) Owens of Silver Lake; Terry (Susan) Owens of Heathsville, Va.; Kathy (Mark) Schott of Fort Wayne; Linda Donovan of South Bend; and Lisa (Kim) Derf of Silver Lake; sisters: Maggie (Elmer) England of Warsaw; Evaline Spangle of Columbia City; brother: Dale (Phyllis) of Paintsville, Ky. In addition, he is survived by 19 grand children and 33 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by son; Scott Owens, siblings; Gale Owens, Dalis Owens, Merleen Smith, and Garnie Bradford.

His visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, July 11, in McHatton- Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Interment will be private at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw with Pastor Terry Bradford officiating.

Eugene ‘Gene’ E. Tilbury

Eugene “Gene” E. Tilbury, 88, Warsaw, formerly of Milford, passed away July 3, 2019, at Warsaw Meadows. He was born Feb. 2, 1931, in Camby, Minn. to Clarence and Alice (Laabs) Tilbury. He married Phyllis Grace Collins on June 20, 1957; she preceded him in death on Feb. 7, 2010.

He honorably served in the United States Air Force and went on to work at Union Carbide, retiring after 31 years. He loved horses and was an avid Nascar and Minnesota Vikings fan. He loved to talk and tell stories and really never knew a stranger. He enjoyed being with family at family get togethers, and always had a smile on his face.

Gene Tilbury is survived by two sons, James (Misuk) Tilbury of Milford; Jonathan (Kaye) Collins of South Carolina; a daughter, Sherri (Bruce) Obacz of North Webster; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Shirley Peters of Redwood Falls.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers and a sister.

A celebration of Gene’s life will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, July 11, at Mishler Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Milford. Pastor Josh Weiland will officiate the service. Burial will take place at Milford Cemetery.

A memorial visitation will be Thursday from 2-4 p.m., at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be given to Disabled Veterans of America.
