Norman W. “Dick” Rhodes, 93, Warsaw, passed away at 11:32 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2020, at Goshen Hospital. He was born on Oct. 5, 1926, in Pierceton, to John A. and Martha L. (Roberts) Rhodes.
He graduated in 1944 from North Webster High School, was a United States Army veteran, and lived most of his life in the North Webster area except for a brief time in Waynedale. He was married on Nov. 22, 1952 in Kendallville, to Sara M. Gaff who survives. He formerly worked at ABC Industries in Winona Lake for 25 years as a plant superintendent and at Kroger Foods Corporate Headquarters for 14 years.
He was a member of the American Legion #253 for in North Webster for 73 years.
He is survived by his wife, Sara Rhodes, Warsaw; four sons: John Rhodes of Canton, Ohio; Jeff (Kelly) Rhodes of Brookston; Jerry (Elizabeth) Rhodes of Canton, Ohio; and Jay (Stacy) Rhodes of North Webster; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sister, Peggy (Hal) Minear, North Webster; brother, Jerry (Julia) Rhodes, North Webster
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Rose Hendricks and Evelyn Duke, and three brothers, Robert Rhodes, Jack Rhodes, and Gordon Rhodes.
Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. SR 15, Warsaw. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, at the North Webster American Legion. Owen Family Funeral Home, SR 13 and CR 500N, North Webster is in charge of arrangements.
